Alverne, The members of the Pate family that I mentioned were all from Georgia. Joel Pate has already informed me that James Pate was in the 5th Georgia Reserves (Infantry), and that his son Bennett Pate was also a soldier in the war, serving in the Confederate cavalry "Company B, 19th GA Cavalry (Later Company G, 10th Confederate Cav and 5th Confederate Battalion (Cav)".
