Greetings, I recently read that James Pate, husband of Jane "Jincy" Moore and father of a Confederate soldier named Bennett Pate, was conscripted into the Confederate military in the latter years of the WBTS. Does anybody know whether or not this is true? If so, can anyone tell me the military unit(s) in which James Pate served? The following is quoted from http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawilcox/pate_letters.htm: "By the end of the war James Pate, the father of the family was also conscripted despite the families petition to have him exempted. James and Bennett survived the war and made it home to Wilcox County. Sadly, James died August 28,1865 a short time after returning of typhoid fever leaving Jane and 14 children as survivors."
