He was not Benjamin Swinney Pate son of John Franklin Pate and Rachel Lucretia Cobb. I don't know what became of Benjamin Swinney Pate The 9 year old g/dau, Alice Cullifer, b GA in the 1900 Holmes Co Census of the household of John F Pate has always puzzled me. She MAY be a dau of a widowed or divorced Alice Pate. I've tried it as Culliver and Cullifer, but got nothing. Couple of dates for you [Alice Pate b 22 Jan 1870] [Lena Lorene Pate 24 Apr 1885] John Franklin Pate and Rachel Lucretia Cobb Pate are buried at Liberty (PB ?) Church Cemetery in Houston Co AL. Could Benjamin Swinney Pates Name been spelled as Benjamin Sweeney Pate? I think this comes from a Darby Sweeney. Just a guess I know this name was used as a middle name in some of the Pates.
