    1. [PATE GENEALOGY] - "Margery" and PATE families in Southern IL (mostly adopted)
    2. ~CSWR~
    3. I don't know if I have posted this data in a while, so thought I had better do it. -- My primary search is for 2nd great-grandmother: *Margery/Margaret "Martha" PATE*, born 1780-1785, Washington Co. VA [*not* Marjorie EDMONDS b. 1792 TN, d. 1882 MO, who married Minter HOLLOWAY b.1788 TN, migrated to MO abt. 1843. This information does NOT apply to our subjects: John "Minter" HOLLOWAY and MARGERY PATE. - It is easy to be confused with the similar birthdates/names, however, our Margery's father is MATHEW PATE (not Edmonds); and is later confirmed by Ruth Moab's son, MATTHEW PATE SISTLER being a namesake of his maternal grandfather. Also, our Minter and Margery PATE-HOLLOWAY were born about 6 years earlier, and migrated out of TN to IL about 10 yrs. later]. - Margery was married to J. [John] "Minter" HOLLOWAY about 1845, probably in Monroe Co. TN and had 10 children in the 1830 TN Census, before they migrated with some family in early 1853 to southern IL (Pope County). Both Minter and Margery, at that time were about age 70. Ruth Moab's first child, John Minter Holloway, b. 1846 died in infancy. Also, with Minter and Margery were cousins Burton W. HOLLOWAY and his large family. Family records indicate that she: 1. is the daughter of Mathew PATE, b. 1738 and indeed - 2. named her 3rd eldest daughter Ruth Moab Holloway, b. Apr 1824 at Monroe Co, TN. Ruth Moab Holloway is my great-grandmother. - 3. Ruth Moab named her son (my grandfather) Mathew PATE SISTLER, Margery's father and brother were both named "Mathew PATE", and, Mathew named his daughter (my Aunt): Ruth Moab SISTLER. Mathew was b. June 1855 in Pope Co, IL. Ruth Moab HOLLOWAY married Thomas Wm. A. SISTLER/SITZLER, and Ruth Moab's first child, John Minter SISTLER, b. 1846-1850, died young; but she had at least 7 other Holloway-Pate children that survived her. Ruth's only daughter was named, Margery "Martha" SISTLER. - 4. Her brother John A. HOLLOWAY, married Thos. Wm.'s twin sister.... Mary Jane SITZLER, who also migrated to So. IL with other SISTLER/SITZLER, and HOLLOWAY family. - 5. In the 1860 U.S.Census, both Minter and Margery (PATE) HOLLOWAY were elderly and residing with daughter and son inlaw, both at age 77 . Their daughter, Ruth Moab, died in 1862 and Ruth's parents and Holloway-Pate relatives disappear after that time. ================= HERE IS MORE UNRELATED INFO ON PATE families in Southern IL: [my notes, excuse format] --- PATE biographies of Pope County, IL - Historical Society "History and Families 1816-1995": (Volume One) ---> So.
