    3. Janice, Thanks for writing about your Jesse Pate. Family history says my Jesse Pate's birth yr was 1814 in NC. 1840 census sites him as born between 1800-1810 (age 30-40). But who knows if that is correct. I have been unable to find anything that might be a second source for a better estimate of his age as having been born in 1814, or 1800-1814. I think it is possible he came from TN and is a brother or cousin to William Riley Pate, Redding Pate, or Jacob Pate of southern IL. Thanks.
