Hi All, I just ran across a Pate marriage and thought perhaps it may be of interest to someone. This marriage is shown in a book titled, "Our Kin", the genealogies of some of the early families who made history in the founding and development of Bedford Co VA, c1930 by Mary Ackerly. The passage speaks of a John Ragland who came to Virginia about 1720 and settled upon Mechamps Creek. John Ragland md Anne Beaufort Their nine children: John, who married Nancy Dudley of Hanover in 1759 William, who married a Miss Lipscomb Samuel James, who married Catherine Davis Evan, who married ------ and settled in Halifax County Pettus, who married Elizabeth, daughter of John Davis of Hanover County Martha, who married Thomas Tinsley Frances, who married Jeremiah Pate --------, who married a Mr. Bowe.
