Bird Pate was born in Jamestown, Arkansas, March 31, 1856. He died in Desha, Arkansas, December 21, 1928. Being at the age of 72 at the time of his death. Mr. Pate was married to Miss Susan Hankins, November 3, 1878 at Jamestown. To this union were born four children, Mrs. I. W. Lasater, Kingston, Okla., Mrs. Jennie Barnes, of Desha, Arkansas, and Bob and W. D. Pate of Weleetka, Oklahoma all were surviving him at the time of his death. Mrs. Pate died July 5, 1928. Mr. Pate was making his home with his daughter in Desha, Arkansas, at the time of his death. Funeral services were held in Weleetka Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist church with Rev. J. M. Parker officiating, assisted by H. E. Peters. Internment was made in the Hillcrest cemetery. Nita's notes: Bob was John Robert Pate, eldest son. Lasater (daughter, Mollie) was spelled differently in Susan Hankins Pate's obit. Spelling of the obit has been retained.
