As one who's military career spaned from Viet Nam thru the Gulf and all the "crap" in between, I thank those who respect my service in both war and peacetime. I feel that we did some great things but this day is for those of us who did not come hpome. Those who gave the "ultimate sacrifice" to ensure that we can do just what we are doing right now. Discourse if good, even heated disacourse if good, if and when it all over we can still call each other brothers and sisters! It would be interesting to start a side page dedicated to Pate Vet's and to those of us who put ourselves in "harms way" to protect this republic that we love so much. That means all Pate firemen, law enforcement, and other "service" organizations should be considered as well! But that is an issue for tomorrow. Today is Memorial Day! Flys your flags high and visit you local cemetary and give thanks to all those there that gave their all! Thank you Mike and you have my full respect. My flag is flying. -- Clovis Byars Herring
Thank you so much for this post, Mike - and thank you for your years of service! My son-in-law is, at this very moment, in harm's way in Afghanistan, so you better believe I am flying the flag high and praying for him to come home safely. God bless all of our troops in harm's way - and God rest the souls of those who have given their lives for our freedom.
