Hi Grace, Thanks for the reply. If your Newel Walton Pate was the one born in GA in 1811, I see him in the Thoroughgood Pate Group in the Pate DNA Project. Yet more descendants of "Thoroughgood" living in close proximity to the descendants of "Edward". These two groups also lived very close to each other in Meredosia, Morgan Co., IL. My most distant documented ancestor was Newel Walton Pate, his son Gilbert, his son John Wiley Pate was my g-grandfather. John, some of his brothers and a sister also resided in Grayson County.
