Family Tree DNA has just announced today a brief sale on upgrades on Y-DNA kits. I strongly recommend that all members of the Pate DNA Project upgrade their results to 37 markers, or at least to 25 markers. The 12-marker test only places you within a broad family line, which is not unimportant, but provides little further genealogical value to yourself or others. The advanced tests further define how closely you may be related to other members within your family group and may help establish specific family lines, which is very important. The testing for advanced markers will not require furnishing new DNA samples. This additional testing can be done on the same sample previously provided when first becoming a member of the Project.
