James Irby Pate, Jr. BORN: June 19, 1917 DIED: April 21, 2010 LOCATION: Dayton, OH PATE, James I., Jr., age 92 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010. He was born in Fayetteville, NC to James Irby and Bessie Cope Pate. James was a US Army veteran, 8th Infantry Division during the European Theater where he received four battle stars. He retired from NCR in 1980 after 42 years of service. James was a 32 degree in the Scottish Rite, a life member of over 50 years of the Almas Shriners and a member of the National-Stansbury-Dawson Lodge No. 12 F.A.A.M. of Washington DC. He was a soft spoken and easy going; a true southern gentleman who was an accomplished woodcarver. Preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Thomas V. Pate and William A. Pate and his wife Evelyn E. Pate. James is survived by his daughter, Suzanne E. Pate; his brother, Angus (Joyce) Pate and his sister-in-law, Peggy Pate. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 7:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, Kettering, with Jill Proudfoot officiating.
