As I was reading your post on some Pate names, I remember a trivia that you will find interesting. The Joseph Pate who married (famous marrying lady) Melinda had a daughter and was named Johanna Josephine Pate. She married Virgil Stewart Maddox and their first born was a son named James Benjamin Franklin Maddox. On the 21st birthday of Frank (this is is the name he used) his mother gave him a pocket watch. The watch has inscription that reads something like "to my son on his 21st birthday. I do not recall the exact wording but it was appraised by a jeweler and some day will go to our son and thus goes out of lineage as regards the Pate name. Life is full of twists and turns. ellen
