Jack Pate II Funeral Services for Jack Pate, 82, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in the Pine Grove Church of Christ in the Pine Grove Community with Bro. Norman Turner officiating. Military graveside service will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Pate was born July 13, 1927 in Cotulla, Texas and passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 in Corrigan, Texas. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Church and was a teacher for 33 years for Corrigan-Camden ISD. He was also a cattleman. He attended Texas A&M and graduated in 1948. He was a board member of the Liberty County Teachers Credit Union, Veteran of the Korean War, Former board member of the Polk County Extension & Ag Services and former board member of the Polk County Farm Bureau. He is preceded in death by his parents: Roy J Sr. and Angelina (Trevino) Pate. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Bennie Pate Corrigan, Texas; son: Boydie Pate III and wife, Vickie; daughters: Lori Cantrell and husband, Mike; Sheri Thompson and husband, Ronnie; brother: Roy J. Pate, Jr.; brother-in-law: Denny Stringer and wife, Velma; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Ronnie Thompson. Ramsey Thompson, Chris Thompson, Mike Cantrell, Lynn Lovett, Roy Hopson, Richard Wells, Richard Brashear, David Lovett, Kaywood Loving. They are part of the Thoroughgood Pate group. The line can be traced from Robeson Co, NC, to Baker and Miller Co, GA to Fayette and LaSalle Co, TX. The is no clearly identifiable representative from this branch in the Pate DNA Project.
