He was born in Hollins, Al on June 2nd 1939, the son of the late Nathan Eugene Jones and Effie Lee Pate Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife and soul-mate, Sylvia Ann Jones; daughter Katrina Ann; brothers Speigel, Jerome, Walter and Donald Jones and sisters Elizabeth Jones Camp, Pauline Jones Laberty, Julia Jones Humphries and Mary Jones Woods. He is survived by his brother James Earl "Jimmy" Jones (wife Eunice and children Rhonda & Mike) of Hollins, Alabama; sons Alton (wife Ana) of Imperial Beach, CA, Mark (wife Lynda) of Port Orange, FL, and Benjamin of San Luis Obispo, CA; daughters Melisha Jones of Pelham, Alabama and Crystal Jones Lee (husband Michael) of Birmingham Alabama;8 grandchildren-Stephanie, Allyson, Ashzra, Kyrsti, Keith, Brandon, Alton Jr and Alexander and 3 great grandchildren-Jesseca, Keith and Margaret. He was a gentle and loving man who enjoyed life to its fullest and could always fetch a smile. Laughter and enjoyment followed him everywhere.Ê His stories were legendary and he loved sharing them with every person he could. He treasured being the focal point at get-togethers and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jack was born in Prichard to Samuel and Lee Ola Gavin Pate. He served in the USAF and retired from active duty in 1971. He then continued his profession as a Bulk Plant Manager in the Civil Service in Alaska until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing at the VFW Post 28 in Anchorage, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers; and four sisters. Mary was a member of Beardstown Church of the Nazarene.     3. Dorothy Pate Obituary   Family-Placed Death Notice PATE, Dorothy Dorothy Sue Jordan Pate died on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Sue was born in Talladega, Alabama, on December 22, 1933 to Kate Powell Norman Jordan and Troy Carlton Jordan. They moved to Mobile during the Second World War, and Sue attended Craighead School and Barton Academy before going to Murphy High School, from which she graduated in 1951. She had many fond memories of Murphy and her friends and thoroughly enjoyed the many reunions of the Class of 1951. Sue entered the University of Alabama in the fall of 1951 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology in 1958, after a lapse of four years during which she accompanied her husband throughout his tour of duty in the U. S. Navy. Subsequently, she was in the graduate psychology program at the University of Alabama from 1959 to 1961 and in the graduate English program at Georgia State College (now Georgia State University). She loved the academic life and was a life-long student with particular interests in language, literature, and music. On June 8, 1954, Sue married James Lester Pate, whom she had met in a senior seminar in psychology in the summer term of 1953. They have two daughters, Debra Sue and Laura Katrine. Other survivors are Velera Nell Pate (sister-in-law), Thomas Gerald Pate (brother-in-law), Hazel Lillian Compton (cousin), Arthur Kenneth Womble, Jr. (nephew), and Teresa Maria Kominos (niece-in-law). Sue worked as a psychological technician at Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; as an administrator in the Webster Division of McGraw-Hill; as a paralegal at Long, Alridge, Hiner, Stevens, and Sumners; and as an administrator in various cable television companies. She retired in 1995. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Weinstein Hospice, 3150 Howell Mill Road, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30327 or a charity of one's choice are requested. He attended Chatsworth Church of Christ and a longtime member of the Lions Club, avid deer hunter and a great father. Survivors include, daughter and son in law, Debbie & Robert Carpinelli of Forest, VA; son and daughter in law, Curtis Glen, Jr. and Vicki Love of Chatsworth; granddaughters and spouse, Holly & Justin Phillips, of Kinston, NC, and Kelsey Love of Chatsworth; great grandsons, Jeb and Judd Phillips of Kinston, NC; sister and brother in law, Betty & Jim Pate of Tupelo, MS; sister in law, Suzanne Love of Diamond Head, MS; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Monday 1 pm from the chapel of Shawn Chapman Funeral Home with Johnny Mackey officiating. Interment will follow in the Murray Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Sunday after 4 pm. Arrangements made with Integrity by Shawn Chapman Funeral Home, Crematory and Monuments.
