    1. [PATE] Obit of Bernice Pate's brother Kenneth Jackson - Muscle Shoals, Alabama
    2. Janice Marler
    3. JACKSON, KENNETH Kenneth Jackson was born in Townley, Alabama on March 8, 1942, and graduated as Valedictorian of Townley Junior High School in May of 1957. He next attended Walker County High School where he graduated in May 1960 as a proud President of the National Honor Society. He then attended Walker College until 1962 and the University of Alabama graduating in 1964 with a B.S. and in 1967 with a M.A. His first teaching job was at Hueytown High School 1964-66. His Birmingham friend, Wayne Burger, assisted in getting located in Michigan in 1966. Wayne was the minister of the church of Christ in Three Rivers, and Kenneth would assist with that work while serving as Guidance Counselor at White Pigeon High School. Wayne soon left after Kenneth's arrival, and Kenneth assumed the minister's responsibilities there for a time. In 1968, Kenneth returned to Townley as math teacher and coach at the school and minister at the Townley church of Christ. He would admit later to being in "way over his head" in all three areas. In 1969, Mr. Paul Weeks hired Kenneth as the Guidance Counselor for Winfield City Schools, a position he held until 1994. In 1988 or thereabouts, Brian Pitts let him do part-time work at WEZQ radio. After retiring from education, Boyd Pate, Jack Mainord, and Maxine Harper allowed him the privilege of participating in another of his career interests-local radio. This lasted until shortly after 9/11/2001. Dr. Ken Randolph gave him some local TV experience for a time after that. Kenneth was single until his matchmaking friend and gospel preacher from high school, Levi Sides, had him go to Hill's Chapel on a Wednesday night to meet Judy McNutt Shattuck. He would not introduce them until after the service. That was August 1977, and they were married in March 1978. Judy's young son Leslie was an additional blessing for Kenneth. Michael and Nathan were added to the household making it the Jackson Five or JKLMN Jackson In time Leslie and Tina presented Kenneth and Judy with two precious granddaughters Chloe and Laci. Kenneth received great support during his almost eleven years of service as an elder with the Winfield Church of Christ. Later Michael and Stacey welcomed Jonah so that our family was now two digits (10) in number. From his early infancy, Kenneth was so blessed that Jonah chose him to be his very first best friend. Kenneth was not too embarrassed that he would seek him out from his crowd of admirers. Kenneth tried to avoid too much jealousy by staying in the background to give the others their time with him. Kenneth just might be bragging. Jonah and Kenneth have spent many wonderful hours together and shared some best memories. He gave Kenneth no option but to ride in the back seat with him and play his games by his rules. During Kenneth's early diagnosis and pain, he got to ride in the back seat with him several times on his way to and from Tree House Pre-School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ora Jackson of Townley, Alabama, brother Don Jackson (Billie) of Hillview, Alabama, sister Doris Ensor (G.H.) of Jasper, Alabama, father-in-law Cecil "Jeff" McNutt of Burnsville, MS, sister-in-law Jeannette Jackson of Adamsville, AL. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy McNutt Jackson of Muscle Shoals, AL; son Leslie (Tina) Jackson of Muscle Shoals; son Michael (Stacey) Jackson of Florence, and son Nathan Jackson of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren Chloe, Laci, Jonah and expectant baby brother Jackson; brother Leon Jackson of Homewood, sister Bernice (Jerry) Pate of Carbon Hill, AL, sister Sandra Hunt of Carbon Hill and mother-in-law Helen McNutt of Burnsville, MS. The funeral service will be 12:00pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia with visitation 10:00am until 12:00noon Saturday before the funeral service.
