There is a James M Pate, with widow, Phelby H Pate who filed for a CW Pension - He served in Co D 17 IL Inf; 38 IL Inf and filed for an invalid pension 21 Jul 1891 from MO; The widow filed for a pension 30 Sep 1931, #1703190, XC 2644808. Does anyone have cemetery records for the Mt Pleasant Bapt Church Cemetery and the Oak Grove CME Church Cemetery in Pickens Co, AL - someone sent me a list of Pate's supposedly buried in the Mt Pleasant Cemetery, but in the book "Pickens Co, AL Cemetery Records" by the Pickens Co, Gen Soc - they show the same people buried in the Oak Grove CME Cemetery. Just trying to get my records straight. Thanks Jinks

PATE Departed this life January the 11, 1858 Even though the list of Joseph T and Mary PATE's children stops in 1864 and, therefore, doesn't list Joseph F. PATE who was born in 1867, this has to be his family from much evidence. 1) There was a marriage license for Joseph T PATE and Mary FITZGERALD issued in San Augustine County, TX March 10. 1856. There is a picture of Jackson FITZGERALD, Mary's father, in Joseph F. PATE's family. 2) I also found Joseph T PATE (the only PATE male)in Anderson County, TX voter's register in August 1867. In the Mattie BARRINGTON/Joseph F PATE Family Bible, it is stated the Joseph F PATE was born in Anderson County, TX in August 1867. 3) In the 1870 Navarro County, Texas census, living next door to Rebecca (Fitzgerald) and W B Horn is a PATE family. The Texas Census Index for 1870 shows this as "G P" PATE. However, when I looked at the original record, it COULD be, J T. The handwriting is difficult for me to interpret. This is the listing from Beat No. 3, Wadeville PO: PATE, G P (?) farmer age 42 M W b Georgia (I think) " M J age 40 F W b Tenn " A J age 13 F W b TX " J M age 10 M W b TX " S E age 8 F W b TX " W J age 6 M W b TX " J F age ? M W b TX The ages and sexes align with this new information.
