Yes Jinks! I think we may have a connection. Can you tell me if your Elizabeth M. Pate was born Oct 22, 1848. Her brother, Jere, was a Judge from what we are told. Elizabeth M. Pate married Handy Peters around 1870. She is buried at Panther Creek Cementary in the Wicksburg area. Her father was also named Jeremiah Pate. Her mother may have been named Martha, but we are unsure. Does any of this sound familiar? Teresa Hi Jinks,Looks like we are looking at two different Jeremiah Pate families. Both of my Jeremiahs are in Dale Co. in the 1850 census. The father is 51 years old and his son is 21 years old. They are with Martha (Tindell) Pate and the other children William and Thomas. Thomas Waters a grandson is also with them.Marvin______________________________ Forwarded Message X-Message:#2Date:Tue, 12 Aug 2003 08:01:14 -0400From:"Joel Pate" <patej@nettally.com>To:PATE-L@rootsweb.comMessage-ID:<000b01c360c9$6e84dd40$2201a8c0@nettally.com>Subject:[PATE] Jeremiah Pate-Dale Co AL 1840 CensusContent-Type:text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Plain Text Attachment [ Save to my Yahoo! Glenda: There was probably only one women named Martha Pate Long in Gibson Co TN There are two "legends" or stories about her. Legend I 1 Martha Pate married Henry Long in Gibson Co TN 11 Sep 1838 on license issued 8 Sep 1838. 2 She was born ca 1821 in TN 3. Henry Long and Martha Pate Long had 8 children 4. Henry Long and Martha Pate Long relocated from Gibson Co TN to Grant Co KY and were enumerated in the 1860 census of Grant Co KY. 5. Martha Pate Long died after the 1860 census. I do not currently have an image scan of that enumeration. 5. Henry Long and Martha Pate Long were enumerated in the 1860 census of Gibson Co TN in the Trenton PO District. I do not have an index citation for this, but I would surmise that you could find and confirm this. 6. Henry Long and his son, James Luther Long, served in Confederate units in the Civil War 7. "Looking for information on John Pate" doesn't contain anything that would allow any of us to identify the John Pate that you are looking for. I am sure that we all have at least one John, James, Jeremiah, Thomas, Martha, Mary, and Fanny in our family tree. The approximate date of birth or death and the location (city, county, state) where they may have lived saves time for those who are willing to help. Teresa, I have quite a bit of information on Jeremiah Pate from Geneva Co., AL if you would like to share with me. I'm curious about Elizabeth M. Pate Peters, I don't have any information on her. I will be glad to share what I have. Marvin mwilliamsjr@knology.net
Teresa - noticed your posting on Pate-L In the 1850 Dale Co, AL census records there is Martha Pate age 25, b. GA Jeremiah Pate age 3, b. FL Elizabeth Pate age 1, b. AL It appears Martha is a widow. in the 1860 Santa Rosa, FL census records Jas L Bryan Martha Bryan, b. GA Jeremiah Pate age 13, b. FL Malinda Pate age 11 b. AL So it seems Martha Pate remarried to Jas Bryan, and Elizabeth M is Elizabeth Malinda Pate. Couldn't find a Jeremiah who fits as being Martha's first husband, but maybe this will help a little or give you a clue. Jinks
I recently joined the list and I am looking for information on Jeremiah Pate. He was suppose to be a Judge in the Wicksburg Alabama Area around 1846. His wife may have been named Martha. His daughter was Elizabeth M. Pate Peters (Millie). She was born Oct. 22, 1848.
