    3. Bob: Robert H Pate age 54 and family were enumerated in Curry, Putnam Co West Virginia in the 1930 census. The enumeration was made 19 Apr 1930. Citation: Enumeration District 40-5, sheet 7B, Curry Twsp, site 128/128. I'd say that he was in Curry, WV for at least the first quarter of 1930. His occupation was listed as Farmer, apparently self employed on a truck farm. Here is a wild lead for you- The English and Canadians had decennial censuses, BUT they made them, not on the decade year, e.g., 1850, but on the first year, e.g., 1851. I think that the pattern has continued. So there MAY be a Canadian census for 1931. IF so and IF it is available and IF Robert H Pate was in Canada and IF he was enumerated, you MAY be able to trace him. Do you know if he continued working at farming or related work? 3. John The earlier House Journal entry indicates that the three were from Illinois, the second entry indicates that the relief bill was expanded to include- 1. three Pate men from Illinois 2. W T Sherman 3. Unnamed officers and men of the GA Battn The problem with pension records is that they are for surviving soldiers who lived long enough to meet the pension law provisions. If a soldier served in 1846-1848 and died in 1872, he was never eligible for a pension that was authorized in 1880 or later. The better foundation record would be the regimental or battalion enlistment and pay rosters ----- Original Message ----- From: "PAT & JOHN" <PJTAP@webtv.net> To: <patej@nettally.com> Sent: Friday, November 28, 2003 6:55 AM Subject: John,David & John > House Journal...2/18/1851.. > Petition of John ,William & David,W.T.
