    3. Jinks The SSDI has a William T Pate who died 15 Dec 1998 in Knoxville, Knox, Co., TN who was born 19 Jan 1910. If he was enumerated in the 1910 census he would have been recorded as age 3 or 4 months old when the enumeration was taken in May or April, 1910. The 1910 census of Jefferson Co., TN has this household- Enumeration District 66, sheet *, Civil District 2, site 147/150 -Recording date 30 Apr 1910 Ira T Pate Head 23 b TN Callie H Pate Wife 23 b TN William T Pate son 3m b TN Ira and Callie had been married for 1 year and she had given birth to 1 child who was alive at census time. William T Pate b 19 Jan 1910 would have been 3 months 11 days old on 30 Apr 1910. Perhaps Ira T Pate age 23 in the 1910 Jefferson Co TN census is the Thomas I Pate age 13 in the 1900 census of Jefferson Co. 2. Hi, William T. (Tinsley) Pate was the son of Ira Thomas & Callie (Bryant) Pate. After his first wife died he did get married again and I believe her name was Lorene. I have looked and looked for a letter that Tinsley wrote to my Mother but can not find it. This is part of my Pate family. Tinsley had brothers and sisters if you are interested. Betty L. Tenorio

She initially was buried in Stone Mountain Cemetery in DeKalb GA and later transferred to Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Fulton Co GA to a Peck family section or vault. She had separated or divorced Samuel Hopkins Peck at some point. Any information on her marriage to Thomas D. Pate and on him would be appreciated

    3. Following is an inquiry I recently posted to the HOLMES venue at GenForum "I'm looking for information on a LWT or estate administration for Nathaniel Nesbit Holmes who died before 1825 perhaps in or near Augusta, Richmond County, GA. He was survived by at least one child, a daughter named Sarah Ann Holmes. Sarah Ann Holmes married Thomas D. Pate 3 Feb 1825 in Augusta, Richmond County, GA. Thomas D. Pate apparently died about 1827. No evidence of children of this union has been found. Sarah Ann Holmes Pate married Samuel Hopkins Peck 24 Dec 1828 in Augusta, Richmond County, GA. The 1840 census enumeration for Samuel H Peck in Richmond County, GA indicates the presence of several slaves in the household. It is not known if these slaves came from a Holmes legacy, from a Pate legacy or were acquired by Peck. Any assistance or leads appreciated. Both Holmes and Pate are sometimes rendered as DeHolmes and DePate Joel Pate"

    3. Recently I had an inquiry from Sam T Pait regarding a Stephen Pate/Pait b abt 1809 in NC, perhaps Robeson co and was later in Bladen Co NC. My response to Sam follows- Sam I have some unproven information on a Stephen Pate b NC 1809 that indicates that he was a son of David Pate and Elizabeth Howell. The earliest he would have shown up in a census record as a head of house household would have been 1830 at age approx 21. The name Stephen Pate does not appear as a head of household in the 1830 census of NC. In 1840 he would have be about age 31. There were 3 men named Stephen Pate enumerated as head of household in the 1840 census of NC. Two were in Wayne Co., one at page 210 and the other at page 211. The third Stephen Pate was in Robeson Co, page 224. Stephen Pate page 224 Robeson Co - 3 people in household as 1 w/m age less than 5, 1 w/m age 30-40 and 1 w/f age 30-40. This enumeration has the strongest possibility of being the Stephen Pate in question. Stephen Pate page 210 Wayne Co Waynesboro - 4 people in household as 1 w/m age 15 to 20, 1 w/m age 20 to 30, 1 w/m age 30 to 40 and 1 w/f age 30 to 40. Stephen Pate page 211 Wayne Co New Hope - 2 people in household as 1 w/m age 20 to 30 and 1 w/f age 20 to 30. In 1820 the name David Pate does not appear in the census of NC In 1830 the name David Pate does not appear in the census of NC In 1840 there was a David Pate enumerated in Bladen Co The 1850 census, as you know, was the first census to list the names of individuals enumerated in each household. In 1850 Stephen Pate born 1809 would have been about age 41. In the 1850 census of NC there were 2 households with a Stephen Pate named as head of household: Stephen Pate Wayne Co page 182- Stephen Pate age 26 b ca 1824 Stephen Pate Wayne Co page 183- Stephen Pate age 31 b ca 1819 There was a Stephen Pate enumerated in 1850 in Bladen Co, page 108, - Stephen Pate age 13 in the household of David Hester In 1860 Stephen Pate b 1809 would have been about age 51 heads of households- Stephen Pate age 24 Bladen Co page 292 b ca 1836 Stephen Pate age 41 Wayne Co page 849 b ca 1819 In the 1850 census there were two other Stephen Pate households. One in Claiborne Parish, LA and one in Stewart Co, GA. The Stephen Pate in LA was age 37 born in TN. The Stephen Pate in GA was Stephen Swinney Pate age 30 b in GA. Finally there was a Stephen Pait age 22 b AL enumerated in 1850 in Morgan Co AL. Joel

A compilation or digest of all messages posted to the list is sent out each 24 hour period as a PATE-D posting. If there are no messages to compile into a digest, a digest is not sent. This is the "silence" you have been experiencing of recent date. To get something out of PATE-L we need to share or put something in. Questions, findings and observations must be posted to PATE-L@RootsWeb.com. Private exchanges between PATE researchers are not posted. Inquiries and responses on other PATE venues, such as GenForum and Ancestry.com are not posted on PATE-L. Your Administrator (me) is perhaps the one who short changes PATE-L the most in this regard. Would love to have the "will text" you mention that shows she is dau of Samuel C Pate. I have a copy of the Edward Pate Bible Records (father of Samuel C Pate) that show the children of Samuel C Pate - but Ailsey is not listed. "The Pennsylvania Pioneers" by B W Gans shows Alice Pate, dau of Sarah E Ball and John Pate - this may be where that info came from - and as we all know, it may or may not be correct. Jinks Pate Lee
