    3. Subscriber Tarrie Pate posted this on the Pate venue at Genforum Subject: 1930 MI census Lenawee, Adrian "The name of daughter should be Hazel, not Hagee. The names listed as Ida and Ray Woodley should be Ida and Roy Woodby. Does anyone have any info on the Pate families in FL ? Such as Lloyd and Grace and their son "Babe" or their daughter Stella ? I think Stella may be getting treatment for Alzheimer's disease." The "Ray" Woodby could be "Roy" Woodby, but the best reading I see is Ray. Tarrie, regarding Lloyd and Grace Pate and children "Babe" and Stella, there are a couple of possibilities, but without added information I would not want to hazard a guess. Do you have any idea as to the approximate ages of these folks and where in Florida they might live? Also could Stella Pate be named Estella or perhaps Crystelle? Did she marry? Joel

    1. Re: [PATE GENEALOGY] JosephT Pate md Mary Fitzgerald 20 Mar 1856

    3. Mary Fitzgerald was the daughter of Jackson Fitzgerald and Sarah Moore. I found the Joseph T. PATE family in Navarro County, TX in 1870 by tracing Mary's siblings. Her sister, Rebecca Fitzgerald Horn, was in Navarro County, TX with her family. Living next door was a PATE family (indexed under G P PATE on ancestry.com and J P PATE on genealogy.com I believe). From the TIPPS researcher (re: Johnie Ella): The marriage certificate info: P.G. Tipps and John Ella Pate, License issued Sep 8, 1879, Grayson TX issued by J.M. Cooper MG Certification of marriage dated Sep 11, 1879, J.M. Cooper MG Clerk: G.A. Dickerson Deputy: J.H. Dickerson No other info, no witnesses or parents, etc. Also from her: In 1870 Peter G. Tipps, age 17, was in Dist 3, Lynchburgh, Lincoln County, TN with his brother Michael. Father of Peter G. Tipps was Jacob Tipps of Franklin County TN. Sharon

    3. Sharon: Joseph T Pate married Mary Fitzgerald 20 Mar 1856 in San Augustin Co TX. Do you see her as a daughter of George Washington Fitzgerald and Christian McIntosh? In the 1850 census of Anderson Co TX there was a G W Fitzgerald et ux Christian Fitzgerald. They had a daughter, Jane Fitzgerald age 6. Was this perhaps Mary Jane Fitzgerald? There were two Pate households in the 1850 census of Anderson Co TX. One headed by a William Pate and wife Jane and one headed by an Isaac H Pate. {Perhaps Isaac Heath Pate}. These two MAY PERHAPS POSSIBLY be sons of a Peterson Pate. Moving forward to 1860 Anderson Co TX we find: 1. W A Pate and wife Jane at site 717/713 2. G W Fitzgerald and wife Christian at site 719/715 3. J T Pate and wife M J Pate at site 764/760 The children with J T (Joseph T Pate) and M J (Mary Jane Fitzgerald Pate) were A J (Amanda J Pate) and J M (James M Pate) In 1870 Navarro Co TX J P PATE-49 W/M-GA 1821 M T PATE-40 W/F-TN 1830 A M PATE-12 W/F-TX 1858 J M PATE-10 W/M-TX 1860 S E PATE- 8 W/F-TX 1862 W J PATE- 6 W/M-TX 1864 J F PATE- 3 W/M-TX 1867 -J P Pate= apparently Joseph T Pate b 30 Aug 1826 -M T Pate= apparently Mary Jane Fitzgerald -A M Pate= apparently Amanda M Pate 7 Feb 1858 -J M Pate= Apparently James M Pate 16 Dec 1859 -S E Pate= apparently Sarah E Pate b 5 Jan 1862 -W J Pate= apparently William L Pate b 12 Nov 1864 -J F Pate= apparently Joseph Francis Pate Still nothing on Johnie Ella Pate. 3. One correction first - the name of my husband's great grandfather was Joseph FRANCIS Pate. Here is a re-posting of the list of births that I transcribed from the Family Bible register pages that were tucked into the Joseph F PATE/Mattie BARRINGTON Bible. You will note that it is a two generation list: ******************************************************* BIRTH RECORDS 1 Joseph T. Pate was born August the 30, 1826 William F. Pate was born October the 4, 1827 Orra C. Pate was born July the 12, 1830 Thomas J. Pate was born December the 25, 1832 John D. Pate was born November the 28, 1834 Martha J. Pate was born May the 3, 1837 This written June the 10, 1850 by J T Pate BIRTH RECORDS 2 J T Pate M T Pate thair (sic) family record Isabeler C. Pate was born the 13 of January 1857 Amanda J. Pate was born the 7 of February 1858 James M. Pate was born December the 16, 1859 Sarah E. Pate was born January the 5, 1862 William L. Pate was born November the 12, 1864 **************************** There is a death record for Isabeler C. Pate who "departed this life January the 11, 1858". **************************** You will also note that Joseph Francis Pate is not included on the list of children on BIRTH RECORDS 2. However, I am convinced that he is the youngest child of this family. The PATE/BARRINGTON Family Bible states that he was born in Anderson County, TX in August 1867. Joseph T. PATE was in Anderson County, TX in August 1867. Joseph F. Pate's youngest daughter is still living. We purchased the Family Bible and a tintype of Jackson Fitzgerald at an estate sale at her former home. And lastly the 1870 Wadeville, Navarro County, Texas census ties him to this family. Sharon PS The 1880 census does show Johnie Ella TIPPS to be 17. I didn't look at it carefully enough the first time.

    3. Sharon: Johnie Tipps b TX was age 17 not 14 in the 1880 census If there are other names, such as witnesses, bondsmen and officiant, on the marriage license/certificate it would be helpful to know them. If you accept the 1870 Navarro Co TX enumeration of the J P Pate family as containing Amanda Pate and Joseph Fitzgerald Pate you will note that there is not a female child listed that corresponds to Johnie Ella Pate, who would have been age 7. There is a female, S. E. Pate age 8, younger than Amanda and older than J F Pate, a male age 3. This S E Pate was born in 1862, which corresponds with Sarah E Pate b 5 Jan 1862. The 1880 census enumeration was recorded July 1, 1880. Any person born Jan 1862 would have achieved their 18th birthdate and should have reported age 18 for the enumeration. It is difficult to line up enough facts to assert that Sarah E Pate is the same person as Johnie Ella Pate. Peter Tipps et ux were at site 422/422 in Grayson Co in 1880 Amanda J. Pate was at site 433/433 in Grayson Co in 1880 Jacob Tipps age 65 b TN was at site 431/431. I suspect that Peter Tipps was a son of Jacob Where was Peter Tipps in 1870? What became of Sarah E Pate b 1862? Could you publish or republish the list of children in the bible record that contains Joseph Fitzgerald Pate? 3. Gilbert and John Wiley are not PATE names that are in my husband's tree (currently at least). Milam County, Texas is, however, next to Williamson County, Texas. Joseph Francis PATE married in Williamson County in 1887 and was in Bell County, Texas (one county north of Williamson) in 1891. His sister, Amanda, may also have been in Williamson County in 1887. So, it appears that the families were in the same general locations during those years, but that is all I can say for sure. It is likely that someone on the list has more information about these PATEs than I do. Sharon Grace Wisdom wrote: > I had Pate family in Grayson Co., TX around 1890-1930. John Wiley Pate > m. Amanda was living with an aunt (Frances Harris Fitzgerald) and Joseph was living as an adopted son of Robert Harris. 3. Joel and all, I found the following on the LDS site. Please note that these are submitted by patrons and not verified - they can easily contain errors. As you may see by entry #1, researchers sometimes just submit a guess, based on other records, of when and where a marriage may have taken place. However, they can sometimes provide useful clues as to where (or when) to search for a record. Whenever possible, primary source records should always be used to corroborate - or discount - submitted data. I hope some of these are of use. According to the International Genealogical Index for North America: #1 - John PATE (b. ca. 1764 [another entry says b. 1760 Abingdon, Glouster Co, GA!] m. ca. 1787 Union City, New Haven Co, CT [another entry says m. ca. 1785 Abingdon, Glouster Co, VA] to Esther [another entry says Esther Hester] GREEN (b. ca. 1768) John PATE (b. ca. 1762) m. ca. 1791 Troy, Rensselaer Co, NY to Esther GREENE (b. ca. 1766) [another entry says Esther or Hester GREEN, b. ca. 1770] [another variation shows John PACHT or PATE, m. ca. 1793 at same place to Esther GREEN] John PATE m. ca. 1825 Hamilton, Madison Co, NY to Ester GREEN (b. ca. 1772) John PIET m. 26 FEB 1765 Church Of Christ, Salem, Westchester Co, NY, to Jemimah GREEN [apparently a different couple] #2 - Modena PEACE m. 31 DEC 1890 to in Franklin Co, AL, to James M.
