Seeking info on Canady L. PATE (1860- aft 1906) born in Tuscaloosa Co. He is said to have shot his brother John B. and nephew Walter in a dispute over some land in 1906. Anybody have evidence of this incident or other info on Canaday? Thanks Ed Waller

Joel: Thank you very much for your reply and for explaining the "My Mother - R. S. Pate" shown on the monument for James & Marina Pate. Is there proof that James Sr & James Jr's middle name was "Madison"? I have been unable to find a record showing a middle name for either. Does anyone know who the parents were of James Pate, Sr? I am back . Children of Marion Franklin Pate: Judith Pate born 9 March 1925 Lydia Pate born 16 October 1927 Gillespie Co. TX Great Uncle Marion Franklin Pate died of influenza and senility in Fredricksburg, Gillespie Co. TX. Marion Franklin Pate was married #1 26 April 1880 to Sarah Prudence Goff (Mrs. Brown) and #2 Phoebe Adaline Breeden 8 march 1915 Georgetown Williamson Co. TX. I would be very interested in contacting any of the descendents of Marion Franklin Pate. We have know idea of what happened to them. If you have more questions just ask. Margaret Lindly
Marion Franklin Pate was the second child of Elijah Moseley Pate and Nancy Pollard Medlock. In my opinion Elijah Moseley Pate (born 29 January 1829) died in 1860 in Don Padro Bar TWP, Tuolumne Co. CA. in a measle epidimic Peterson Pate Jr. was born January 1827 - died after 1900 in maybe Merced Co. CA , was older brother of Elijah Moseley Pate. Peterson Pate Jr. was enumerated in the 1860 census of Don Pedro Barr TWP Tuolumne Co. CA Children of Elijah Moseley Pate and Nancy Pollard Medlock are in order: Amanda Jane Pate 25 February 1849 - 17 March 1926 * not 1976 Marion Franklin Pate 16 April 1852 - 10 March 1929 *not 29 March 1929 Wiley Edward Pate April 1855 - 5 April 1927 Sarah Pate is Mrs. Sarah Prudence Goff (formally Mrs. Brown) first wife of Marion. Katie Pate is Catherine Matilda Jane Theosan Bilberry/Bilbrey wife of Wiley Edward Pate Children of Marion Franklin Pate and Sarah "Sally" Prudence Goff ( 1856 - 1911) was: *Mary Nancy Ophelia Pate 25 April 1881 - 13 July 1930 married Osroe Strickland Kimbro *Child: no name 21 September 1908 must have died Children of Marion Franklin Pate and Phoebe "Adaline" Breeden (1897 - 1987): Moseley Franklin (aka Moses) Pate born 30 December 1915 Georgetown Williamson Co. Margaret: Some questions and notes on the Peterson Pate line. Marion Franklin Pate 16 Apr 1852 - 29 Mar 1929 Was he the second child, first son of Elijah Moseley Pate and Nancy Pollard Medlock? In your opinion did Elijah Moseley Pate die after the 1860 census perhaps in or near Don Pedros Twsp, Tuolumne Co., CA? Was Peterson Pate Jr, b AL ca 1824, the older brother of Elijah Moseley Pate? Was Peterson Pate Jr also enumerated in the 1860 census of Don Pedros Twsp, Tuolumne Co., CA? I have the children of Elijah Moseley Pate and Nancy Pollard Medlock as: Amanda Jane Pate 1849-1976 Marion Franklin Pate 1852-1929 Wiley Edward Pate 1855-1927 Sarah Pate 1856 Katie Pate 1861 Did Nancy Pollard Medlock Pate, the wife of Elijah Moseley Pate, subsequently marry James D Johns? [See Williamson Co TX census 1880, page 466, ED 157, Prct 2, site 122/124] Did Marion Franklin Pate marry twice? 1st Sarah Prudence Goff 1856-1911 2nd Phoebe Adeline Breeden 1897-1987 Marion Franklin Pate and Phoebe Adeline Breeden were enumerated in the 1920 census of Bandera Co TX. They were indexed as POLE not PATE. See 1920 Bandera Co., Enum Dist 8, page 13B. Precinct 3, site 244/248 as M F POLE (PATE) Adeline POLE (PATE) Mosely F POLE (PATE) Calvin POLE (PATE) Interesting that the name "Mosely or Moseley" is repeated. The Calvin Pate here is no doubt the Calvin Pate 9 Dec 1918-4 Aug 2001 that Sharon Fitzpatrick reported the delayed birth certificate for. Phoebe Adeline Breeden Pate, widow of Marion Franklin Pate, was enumerated with her children in the 1930 census of Williamson Co., TX as: Adeline Pate 34 b TX 1895 Franklin Pate 14 b TX 1915 Calvin Pate 11 b TX 1918 Johnie Pate 9 b TX 1920 Jimmie Pate 7 b TX 1922 Julie Pate 5 b TX 1924 Lydia Pate 2 b TX 1927 See Enum Dist 246-6, page 4a, Bartlett, site 88/89 Joel

Martha (Howerton) Pat b. 22 Mar --1826-- rather than 1820 - The 1820 is from a typed cemetery record (which could be a typo) and 1826 is from another source (which I do not have). hi Alverne, I am from Camden, and there are a few notes I can tell you of this. I called home and spoke to Camden (Ouachita County) office, and the land description herein is not in the "now" county. I do remember some past research, but not the date at the moment, when this used to be part of other counties--- 1. Union, and 2. Calhoun.....I'm checking on the plat now... As far as the Entry terms, the land office said we were correct to think that this is probably description of the person who has acquired the land, and such recording about the mineral rights , etc., would be such. A sale would most likely show the names of both owner and buyer in the doc. I looked up in the Camden library in the last couple years, and found a land owner William Pate, and a short history descrip. He md. and I think his property that now is OUA CO, was then Calhoun, but I'll have to check that.......anyway, Is Emily part of his family? I'll let you know anything I get info on if you'd like. deborah ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alverne J.
