    3. Dear Pate Family Researchers, Can anyone on this list tell me with reasonable certainty whether John Thomas Pate was married to a woman named Henrietta Kirkland, and if so, who Henrietta's parents were? John Thomas Pate was the father of a Pate ancestor of mine named William Bennett Pate (married once to Victoria Love, and then to Maud Odom), a major land owner in Crisp and Turner counties. 3. Dear Pate Family Researchers, I am conducting genealogical research for a Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Supplemental Application that I am going to submit on Rev. Jacob Parkerson. The James David Pate mentioned in the subject line is (I believe) the son of Tempty Parkerson (and her husband Rev. William Pate), and the grandson of Rev. Jacob Parkerson. Would anyone be able and willing to share 1850 U.S. Census information that shows the family of James David Pate and Jane Moore? I believe that I am descended from them through their son John Thomas Pate (first married, I believe, to Henrietta Kirkland). Jeremy Utt

    1. Charles L Pate marriages - Dearborn Co IN
    2. Joel Pate
    3. Jinks: Some things to consider when sorting out the marriages of Charles L Pate recorded in Dearborn Co IN. There MAY have been two men, one named Charles LYNCH Pate and one named Charles LEWIS Pate Some geographic items--Dearborn Co IN was contiguous Switzerland Co IN from 1814 to 1844. After 1844 the two counties, in the SE corner of the state were divided by Ohio Co. Vermilion Co IN is on the other side of the state on the Western border. In my unproven notes I have Charles Lynch Pate 2nd md Sarah A Stiers in Dearborn Co IN 11 Aug 1847. Sarah A Stiers, per Stiers researchers was b 13 Oct 1813 in Clermont Co OHIO. She SUPPOSEDLY is buried in the Pate Cemetery in Vermilion Co IN Charles Lynch Pate supposedly had a dau named Lucinda who was b ca 1839-1840 1850 census of Switzerland Co IN, page 346 (Mt) Pleasant Twsp, site 314/314 has Lynch Pate 29 b IN ca 1821 [could this be Charles Lynch Pate?] Sarah Pate 36 b OH ca 1814 [could this be Sarah A Stiers b Oct 1813 in OH?] Lucinda Pate 11 b IN ca 1839 [could this be dau of (Charles) Lynch Pate and 1st ux?] George Henry Pate 8 b IN ca 1842 [is this a son of (Charles) Lynch Pate & 1st ux?] Laney Pate f 5 b IN ca 1845 [could this be dau of (Charles) Lynch Pate and 1st ux?] Charles R Pate 1 b IN ca 1849 [perhaps a son of (Charles) Lynch and Sarah Stiers?] If Charles Lynch Pate was the father of a daughter, named Lucinda b ca 1839-1840 he would have married her mother before ca 1837. This proposition brings into play two possible marriages. 11 Apr 1837 Charles L Pate & Eliza Bradley 15 Jul 1838 Charles L Pate & Jane March Consider the 1860 census of Dearborn Co IN page 252, Caesar Creek Twsp, site 31/31 C L Pate 40 b IN ca 1820 [ is this the Lynch Pate in the 1850 census b IN ca 1821 Sarah Pate 48 b OH ca 1812 [is this Sarah Stiers b OH Oct 1813 also in the 1850 census with Lynch Pate?] George H Pate 18 b IN ca 1842 [is this the George Henry Pate b ca 1842 in the 1850 census with Lynch Pate?] Leanny Pate f 16 b IN ca 1844 [is this the Laney Pate b ca 1845 in the 1850 census with Lynch Pate?] Ronnel R Pate 10 b IN ca 1850 [is this the Charles R Pate b ca 1849 in the 1850 census with Lynch Pate?] It is my GUESS that Charles Lynch Pate 1st md Eliza Bradley 11 Apr 1837 in Dearborn Co IN and it my strong OPINION that Charles Lynch Pate 2nd md Sarah Stiers 11 Aug 1847. 3. Jinks I am not sure if you are seeking verification of these dates or something more. But have you checked the Indiana State Library Database: Marriages thru 1850? http://199.8.200.229/db/marriages_search.asp If you stick in Charles Pate it pulls up all the ones you have listed and their dates. (It is Charles Lewis married to Rebecca). I hope this is what you are seeking. 3. Lena Pate Williams and Homer Williams and their three children are on the 1920 census Houston Co AL, Series T625 Roll 17 p182. I looked back at the Southwest Georgian (Clay Co GA) newspaper column 22 Dec 1927 which reported the stroke of great-grandmother Brooks (Louiza Jane Pate Brooks wife of John Decalve Brooks.) In the same news column is an account of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Pate of Dothan, Ala being visitors. Several other Pate relatives from Ashford and Dothan, Ala visited the same week. I just didn't realize who Mr/Mrs Homer Williams were. Seeing this I would say that the Lena Pate who married Homer B Williams 1904 in Houston Co AL is for certain the daughter of John F Pate. Thanks again for helping clear up this mystery for me. 3. Thanks Joel, Jinks & Pacia for all the replys. I was missing the 1910 Houston census listing Alice Pate as a widow with the child dec'd. He was not Benjamin Swinney Pate son of John Franklin Pate and Rachel Lucretia Cobb. I don't know what became of Benjamin Swinney Pate The 9 year old g/dau, Alice Cullifer, b GA in the 1900 Holmes Co Census of the household of John F Pate has always puzzled me. She MAY be a dau of a widowed or divorced Alice Pate. I've tried it as Culliver and Cullifer, but got nothing. Couple of dates for you [Alice Pate b 22 Jan 1870] [Lena Lorene Pate 24 Apr 1885] John Franklin Pate and Rachel Lucretia Cobb Pate are buried at Liberty (PB ?) Church Cemetery in Houston Co AL. One or both of their graves are marked. Joel

    3. Hello everyone, I've been looking at the John Franklin Pate family in greater depth. This is John Franklin Pate (18 Dec 1848 Stewart Co GA- 28 Oct 1903 Houston Co AL,) son of Stephen S Pate & Margaret McKinnon. JFP is located on the 1870 census Randolph Co GA, 1880 Census Clay Co GA and I have now located them on the 1900 Census Holmes Co FL (may be old news to some of you, but is new to me since I have not looked at them in depth before now.) [T623 Roll 171 p105] Who does the granddaughter Alice Cullefer b Apr 1891 belong to? Did Alice Pate marry and then divorce? Has anyone followed JFP son Benjamin S [purportedly Swinney] Pate? I would like some type of proof for his middle name. On this 1900 census Holmes Co FL, he is in his father's household as Benjamin S, age 21. I can't find him on the 1910 census, but on the 1920 census Holmes Co FL there is a B A Pate, age 41 with wife Francis 33, and three daughters. Could this be Benjamin S Pate? [T625 Roll 223 p201] John F Pate, Jr remained in Holmes Co FL for a while and is on the 1910 census there with wife Pearl and 3 children [Series T624 Roll 162 p88.] He is on the 1920 census Houston Co AL census with different (younger) wife [T625 Roll 17 p174.] The other sons Walter Eugene, James B, Steven Edward, Patrick Hugh all moved on from Holmes Co FL to Houston Co AL. Does anyone know anything about the JFP daughters Milly Leoine and Lena Lorene? The oldest JFP daughter Alice Pate is on the 1920 Houston Co AL census, age 50, in brother Britt Pate's household. [Series T625 Roll 17 p169] Thanks for any further help anyone may give. Lindy

    3. My husband had an Aunt named Minnie Lee Pate, and she was born in Turner Co, GA about that same time period. However, she married a man named Addis HOWARD. They lived and died in Turner Co. Interesting co-incidence. Diana Pate Fitzgerald, GA -----Original Message----- From: Joel Pate [mailto:patej@nettally.com] Sent: Friday, December 30, 2005 11:34 PM To: PATE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [PATE GENEALOGY] Minnie Lee Pate Joiner-Geneva Co AL Barbara Peters, a returning PATE-L subscriber posted the following inquiry: Does anyone know who Minnie L. Pate born about 1898 family was. She lived in Geneva co and married Homer Sterling Joiner. Barbara: This Minnie Lee Pate perhaps is the dau of John Thomas Pate and Mary J Yeomans who married in Geneva Co AL about 1893. See 1900 Geneva Co AL census, Enum Dist 73, sheet 8, Pates Cross Roads, site 137/137. This enumeration list an old brother, Alley M Pate age 6 and a younger brother Portor (Porter) Pate age 2. Also see 1930 census of Geneva Co AL, Enum Dist 31-7, sheet 3b, Lowery and Davis Schoolhouse Precinct, site 55/55 Homer Joiner age 35 Head Minnie Joiner age 34 Wife Willie A Joiner age 15 son Mary Lou Joiner 12 dau Same family was enumerated in the 1920 census of Genva Co AL. See Enum Dist 107, sheet 7A, Tates Schoolhouse, site 113/115 I would GUESS that Minnie Lee Pate married Homer Sterling Joiner in Geneva Co AL about 1913-1914 Joel
