    3. Ellen - some of our Pates were lost in wars - they were POW/MIA - and some opted to be cremated and have their ashes blown to the winds or scattered over several places. So might that be where you lost your William B. Pate? 3. LOL - I know, Angie - so much to do, so little time. Our work is never done. Here's someone that actually included their stuff in a blog... http://floridatraces.blogspot.com/2007/10/pioneering-legacy-of-alexander-pate.html There are just so many FREE places to upload photos - so why not do it? 3. Thank you, Lloyd - my sentiments exactly. I do not want someone or a bunch of people to have to ask me to email them hundreds of pictures to them privately - they may want to share the links with 100 other family members as well - and we might be able to solve some of the mysteries of our missing ancestors this way as well! 3. OK, great - nice to hear that more personally and less commercially is your reasoning for not wanting to share your research photos or old family photos, Joe Neal. That's fine - each to their own, but it seems rather selfish [to me] for any of us to keep old photos and research a secret from anyone else searching who may not know HOW to contact and ask you or any of us for information or photos! They just might be the party that has something to offer us that we might be looking for! If I may ask - less commercially than WHAT exactly? Less commercially than this site with a photo and Pait/Pate family history that is publicly/commercially accessible and COSTS A FEE? http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~patepaitfamily/pait.html Just wondering... 3. Clovis - No one is trying to move the Pate List from Rootsweb - we're merely looking for a place to upload pics and the links will be available on the list to lead to the pics - so anyone can see them who might be searching! I don't even know who all is on this list to be emailing a bunch of pics to privately - and why waste all that bandwidth? What if someone is not a member of this list but is searching for their roots? They might run a search and find a link to a picture one of us uploaded that links something for them in their search! Trouble is someone put a marker on his grave with the wrong birth year and the wrong maiden name.? A Chancery Court law suit proved beyond a shadow of a doubt who he married.? I have been working on this for 30 years.? Do not give up.? Have you looked in the Pate Archives?? I haven't found my Daniel Pate's father yet either.? 2. I agree with you on this. I do not and will not go near Facebook or any other social site. Those problems I can not handle. I read the Pate list and although I will never find the William B. Pate that I seek, I still read this site.. ellen I think the best place is [email protected] is our best bet, as well as > exchanging things via our pvt. email addresses.? Here we have the files

    3. http://www.dropshots.com/ I just ran across this the other day and was impressed by what I read. Check this out and see if it is more what you want? Laynie ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Robinson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 22, 2010 6:49 PM Subject: [PATE] Facebook Cancellation I have cancelled the Pate Genealogy Facebook Account. This was a mistake -- It fills up with non-genealogy information and is not very user friendly. Anyone else have any ideas? Maybe the simple person to person contact for transferring or sharing files is the best method. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    2. All Hands, I am making every effort to contact her son David. Do not have an e-mail address for him and his old phone number is no longer in service. Have sent him a letter inquiring into the research data of his mother. For all of you out there, Margaret and I shared the same great-great-grandfather and g-g-grandmother. William T. Perhaps they will donate them to a Library so every one can use them. So many times the children just trash them, then in later years they wish they had preserved then. She was absolutely a great asset to Pate research. She was still driving into eastern Tenn cities and sites to do research until her late 80s. She was gererous with her information and sources. She also was determined to do the Pate research right. I do hope that someday someone in her line will work everything out.!
