A number were offered land and incentives to settle in Susquehanna. My ancestors were among these and they settled in the Middletown, Friendsville, Silver Lake area. In the early-mid 1850s a number of these families migrated to MN where they settled in Jessenland and Faxon Townships of what became Sibley County, MN. My GRIMES and DOHENY ancestors were among these and also led the migration to MN. Other Families that also went to MN include BOLAND, O'Shaughnessy/Shaughnessy, FAHY, HEATHERSTONE, BARGER, CUNNINGHAM, TIERNEY, FLYNN, DOLAN/DOLIN, MADDEN, and HEALY. Others that may also have gone to MN include CONBOY, HUNT, KEHOE, TRIMBO, NOLAN, BUCKLEY, GRADY, FITZGERALD, SULLIVAN, and DOUGHERTY. If anyone is researching the above names or other Irish families from Susquehanna, and have a dead end in the 1850s, I may have info that will pickup the thread in MN.
