    3. The monument is the responsibility of the County as it is part of the land deeded by Isaac Post in the early 1800's. All of this ten acres which includes the green, where the monument is located ,is on the National Historic Registry. It is all the responsibility of the County. The mortar etc. on the Monument base along with the stone tablets are deteriorating. I am not sure of the shape the statue itself is in, as it is so high in the air. As for Newspapers with highest circulation it would be a toss up between the Montrose Independent and the Susquehanna Transcript. It sure wouldn't hurt to cover both and get the wide spread news to all County residents. The head curator at the historical society has entered the monument as a much needed repair monument to the "Save our Outdoor Sculptor's" Group. *note from source: I can still apply for having the monument assessed however as I said before the Commissioner's are reluctant to pay half of the expenses to do so. We are trying to stir up interest with Historic groups in the area to urge the Commissioner's also." **The above statement was sent to me in order to obtain help for getting people aware of the condition and remedy for the Monument.
