    3. Hi Susan! So good to hear from you! I would love to compare notes with you, especially since I recently read a 1983 article by David Kendall Miller in "Rhode Island Roots" with information on the ancestry of Stephen Burdick that differs from what Nellie Johnson gives in "Robert Burdick of Rhode Island". Are you familiar with this article? Miller believes that there were 2 Stephen Burdicks, one who was the son of Simeon & Isabel (Saunders) Burdick and born in 1748, the other, the son of Thomas & Dorothy (Maxson) Burdick and born abt. 1736. Miller found evidence of an older Stephen Burdick who had signed a petition with Thomas Burdick and several of Thomas Burdick's sons (Thomas, Jr., Zebedia, Elias and others). By coincidence, Stephen & Mary Burdick's also named three of their children Thomas, Elias and Zebediah. The argument the article sets forth is pretty convincing to me. I rented the microfilm of the Burdick book from LDS and will have to order it again to update my information on the Thomas & Dorothy (Maxson) Burdick line. Anyway, I am very interested in learning more about the Burdicks of Clifford, since that seems to be where at least part of Stephen & Mary (Church) Burdick's family ended up (Mary, Billings, Thomas and Elias). Did any more of Stephen & Mary Burdick's family go to Clifford? I just heard from a researcher of their daughter, Mary "Polly" who married Barber Cardner, and she settled in Truxton, Cortland County, New York. Their oldest son, Joel Burdick, from who I descend, stayed in Hopkinton and is buried at the Rockville Cemetery there, but his son, Rowland Burdick (my ggg-grandfather), went to Connecticut, and this is where the line stayed through to my grandmother. It's really late up here, so I'll send this off. Again, I'm really interested in learning more about the Burdicks of Clifford.
