Here is what I could find this morning before I get out to enjoy the sunshine. This corroborates some of the information you sent in your message. This information comes from the book A Genealogical History of the Rehoboth Branch of the Carpenter Family. I have a copy of it on CD ROM; Family Tree Makers Family Archives; Family History: New England Families #1, 1600s-1800s. CD #117. Page 252, Eighth Generation. Children of Samuel Carpenter. "Charles born Sept. 30, 1768 or 1769. Married Lucy Darling born 1773 and died March 9, 1848 aged 75. He died Nov. 18, 1840 age 71 yrs. 18 days. He emigrated to Osceola, Pa. in 1801 and resided there until 1812. He died in Deerfield, Pa. Page 423, Ninth Generation. Lyman born May 5, 1796. Married Almira Cook Jan. 15, 1802 [from the punctuation it is difficult to tell if this is her birth date or their marriage date; if it's marriage Lyman would have been six years old] daughter of Levi Cook and Elizabeth Calkins. Almira died April 15, 1846. Lyman died Feb. 6, 1873 Deerfield, PA. Residence Philadelphia. *Footnote for Charles, Lyman's brother. "Charles Tubbs, lawyer, Osceola, Tioga County, Pa. March 4, 1797 states that a Charles Carpenter came to Tioga County from New Hampshire. He married Lucy Darling in New Hampshire. The aged mother and father of Charles came with him. The father's name was Samuel or Charles. They were Quakers." So that was an interesting find this morning. I hope it helps. The emigration of Quakers to the Philadelphia area makes sense. Tioga county is in the north central part of the state bordering New York. I believe the county seat is Wellsboro. Peter Quigg Montrose, Pa.
