    2. Hi, thanks for all your effort in getting the census pages online. I know about the illegible Clifford and Dundaff census. I have the CD's and was very frustrated that the very town I wanted could not be read. However - and this is why I write - somewhere out there in the great world of LDS and census tapes there is a copy that does have a legible Clifford. A few years ago SK Publications was doing some research for me and finally got a tape which they could read. Wish I could find out which one it was and I'd transcribe it myself! Here is what I got: Date: 98-08-11 13:37:17 EDT From: skpub@feist.com (SK Publications) To: suznkelley@aol.com S-K Research Report #22 11 August 1998 For: Susan Kelly (suznkelley@aol.com) Estimated Research Time: 2 hours 3. Then we found readable copies of both the 1860 and 1850 Census of Susquehanna County, PA, for Clifford Township. And we found Alanson HALSTEAD and family there both times. 1850 Federal Census, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania: Clifford Township: p. 347B: #80/82: Alanson HALSTED 58 NY Farmer $3000 real estate Phebe 52 PA Charles 20 PA Carpenter Mary 18 PA Silas 16 PA Sidney 3 PA #81/83: Richard MEREDITH 76 ENGLAND Farmer $1000 real estate William 30 PA Roxana M. 32 PA Freeona H. 6 PA Mary 31 PA Eber DIMMICK 16 PA p. 350: #115/118: John HALSTED 29 PA Farmer $1200 real estate Susan 28 PA Rachel S. 4 PA Charles D. 2 PA p. 360: #26/27: James HALSTED 34 PA Carpenter Eliza 30 NY Almira 12 NY Caroline 8 NY I'll see if I can get them to tell me which tape was good, if they know. 3. MaryJean, I'm address cheating again. Hist. Soc. in Harford contemplates doing Township History Book, 1940-2000, and is considering including township cemeteries and contents. I advised them that you had already done most of this and was on Internet, and was Copyrighted. Big Question. Would you consider selling one time use and for what $ figure.? Or would your generous community minded spirit rather have credit in BIG LETTERS for such a monumental undertaking. Or would you have in mind some other deal that would be more pleasing to MJW.? I do not report to the committee until 7-21-00, and does not have to be definite. Will probably take two years to put Book together, as we have but one Published Author. 1. 1850 census data
    2. Frederick Myers
    3. Hello All I have added two more townships to the 1850 census data Susquehanna - Harford Wayne - Clinton located at: http://www.dsdata.com.au/genealogy/nepa/census1850.html My apologies to a correspondent where I indicated that the data for Harford was illegible. In fact on the source I have - Clifford and Dundaff are the illegible townships. I will continue to work on the smaller townships - apologies to the lady that asked for Texas Township. It is unfortunately one of the larger ones, and when tackled will be completed in sections. There is one problem becoming apparent with the presentation of the census data. Several of the index pages are getting toooooo large. If anyone has strong feelings on what they would like to see I am beginning to consider alternatives to split the data within the overflowing letters on the indices. Thanks for your continuing interest and support. In particular to the lady that offerred the corrrect names for some illegible ones in Lenox township. I do read the email and corrections will get made - though it may take a couple of weeks to appear. Fred Myers fredwm@oerth.dialix.oz.au

    1. BARRETT Surname in Susquehanna County
    2. Sue Petty
    3. Hello List! A grgranparent of mine by the name of Anthony Barrett resided in Dunmore, Luzerne County in the 1860's and 1870's. Naturally I believe he was probably employed within the coal mines there as well. He was married to Ann Scott, naturally both of them from Ireland. Now I do know that my father was born in Forest City in the 1920's, and his father in the Nicholson area in 1900, and wouldn't be surprised that his father resided at or within the Forest City area at some point in time. Eventually, grgrandad James Francis Barrett, his son Peter/Paul/Joseph (yes, he went by all 3 names) and my father Paul all ended up in Binghamton, NY. James worked for the RR as a baggageman and was on the route to Hoboken NJ. He married to a Delia (or Bridget) Golden of the Friendsville area. Wondering if anyone can help me tie up some of these Barrett family's I keep coming across in Susq. County. Best of my knowlege, Anthony Barrett had the following children: (from census) 1850 Providence, Luzerne Co, PA Census >Barrett, Anthony 26, laborer b/Irl (b/abt 1824) >Ann, wife 24 b/Irl >Maria (Mary) 7/12 b/PA >Fandan, Edw 50 b/Irl >Mary 34 b/Irl\ 1860 Providence, Dunmore, Luzerne Co, PA Census >Barratt, Anthony 40 labor b/Irl (abt 1820) real estate 200-75 Wife Ann, 30 >b/Irl >Mary 10, b/PA >John 3 b/PA >James 1 b/PA (1859) 1870 Dunmore, Luzerne Co, PA Census >Barrett, Anthony 49, Laborer b/Irl (abt 1821) >Wife Ann 38 b/Irl >John 14 b/PA >James 11, b/PA >*Anthony 9 b/Abt 1861 b/PA >Peter 7 b/PA >Margaret 3 b/PA Any help would be really appreciated!!
