    1. Susquehanna, PA/Mansfield, Tioga, PA - LANNON Family Photograph
    2. This is posted on behalf of Shelly Cardiel (familia@sprintmail.com). Please contact her directly if any of this applies to you. Thanks, Richard Thomas rthomas@freckie.com - ------------------------------------------------------- I need your help! I've "rescued" an old photograph of Robert M. LANNON of Susquehanna, PA which was taken at F.M. Spencer's Art Gallery in Mansfield, Tioga County, PA. The photo was likely taken in the early 1900's and Robert would appear to be in his 20's at the time the photo was taken. I'd hoped to trace the family and return the photograph, however, I have not been successful though I have contacted all the LANNON family researchers I could find. I'm hoping that some of you may be able to identify the subject of this photo and direct me to their family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley Cardiel familia@sprintmail.com

    3. Cathy, I am just starting to research my Carpenter roots, but I believe Obadiah is a g..ggrandfather of mine. If you go to familysearch.org and type in his name, and scroll down to the entries where they show pedigree, you'll find lots of interesting info, much the same as Peter showed. I'll let you know any new info I find as time goes on. I know at one point, > Lyman owned property in Pennsylvania. > > Thanks, > Helen Elwood Conachan Hello Helen, I'm sure our Carpenters are related somehow. There are a million zillion of them. Here is what I could find this morning before I get out to enjoy the sunshine. This corroborates some of the information you sent in your message. This information comes from the book A Genealogical History of the Rehoboth Branch of the Carpenter Family. I have a copy of it on CD ROM; Family Tree Makers Family Archives; Family History: New England Families #1, 1600s-1800s. CD #117. Page 252, Eighth Generation. Children of Samuel Carpenter. "Charles born Sept. 30, 1768 or 1769. Married Lucy Darling born 1773 and died March 9, 1848 aged 75. He died Nov. 18, 1840 age 71 yrs. 18 days. He emigrated to Osceola, Pa. in 1801 and resided there until 1812. He died in Deerfield, Pa. Page 423, Ninth Generation. Lyman born May 5, 1796. Married Almira Cook Jan. 15, 1802 [from the punctuation it is difficult to tell if this is her birth date or their marriage date; if it's marriage Lyman would have been six years old] daughter of Levi Cook and Elizabeth Calkins. Almira died April 15, 1846. Lyman died Feb. 6, 1873 Deerfield, PA. Residence Philadelphia. *Footnote for Charles, Lyman's brother. "Charles Tubbs, lawyer, Osceola, Tioga County, Pa. March 4, 1797 states that a Charles Carpenter came to Tioga County from New Hampshire. He married Lucy Darling in New Hampshire. The aged mother and father of Charles came with him. The father's name was Samuel or Charles. They were Quakers." So that was an interesting find this morning. I hope it helps. The emigration of Quakers to the Philadelphia area makes sense. Tioga county is in the north central part of the state bordering New York. I believe the county seat is Wellsboro. Peter Quigg Montrose, Pa.

First of all, I don't know about Charles and Martha, but I have HARRIS ancestors who were from England and then Dorchester, and Hingham MA in the 1600s. That might be a start for hunting.
