Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. My Grandmother said that she was born in Buffalo, NY. However I was researching some census for 1900 and something caught my eye. It was some type of Buffalo Pa. census. I did not get a chance to see if it was a town, county, twp. or what. But I almost wonder if she was not told Buffalo and misunderstood which state. Can anyone tell me what type of Buffalo Pa. whatever was around at the beginning of the century. I wanted to check the census when I saw it but the place was closing that day and said they would not have the time for me to look. Also at the Susqu. Hist. Soc., I know that you can go in there and find index cards with information on items that had been in the paper, what I was wondering is do they have the actual newspapers, or micro film there also. Thank you for any information you are able to give me. May God Bless you all, Patti
Donna Gellat.. Do you know who has the cemetary records in Thompson? Thanks Know there are two. Janet
The Biographical Dictionary of Pennsylvania Legislators is a terrific resource for your early PA or New England names. Also Delaware names. Parts of DE were PA before 1710. I found one of mine that had come from MA to PA in late 1600s/early 1700s. The first two volumes of Lawmaking and Legislators cover the legislators who served from 1682 until 1756 and are indexed at this site. Volume Three should be done in July. SLC library has Vol One (not sure about Vol Two) and you can order copies of the pages that you are interested in. I ordered and received copies in less than 10 days. http://www.bdopl.com/vol.html Enjoy, Roberta [email protected]

Nope, not that one, it was the 50 years before that, published in 1905 (It was a reproduction (xeroxed and bound). Carol, This won't help you by next week, but there is a valuable book published by the Southwest Pa. Gen. Services that contain a lot of maps as the boundaries changed. At one time almost the upper half was claimed by CT, and VA claimed the southwestern corner, and MD claimed a strip along the southern edge. The book is: Pennsylvania Lia research guide to Pa. Gen. & Local History. You may write to them at: Southwest Pennsylvania Genealogical Services P. O. Box 253 Laughlintown. PA 15655 This was in the fourth edition, pub. in 1990. I hope it is still valid. Martha On Fri, 28 May 1999 08:13:28 +0000 "Carol C. Yup, found it on the shelf in the PA section. Also found a book on the 50 year history of the Harford Fair, published in 1905 (Can't remember the actual title). It was very interesting as it had the annual fair reports, about who judged what, and who won the ribbons. Just for the record (so to speak), a reprint is available from Higginson, but it will run you close to $200. Many libraries have it (I know the Wayne and Susquehanna County Historical Societies do), and it may well be available on microfiche from the LDS library. Ann
Marie, Would you believe I found it in the Idaho State Genealogical (Now Historical) Library in Boise, ID? I have become convinced you find things ANYWHERE!
