Looking for any information on ORANGE MOTT who married Hannah Terrill Barber 26 November 1822 in Susquehanna Co., PA. In the 1850 and 1860 census for Forest Lake, Susquehanna Co., he is living with his son, Orange Jr. Thanks, Sally [email protected]
Yesterday I attended the Birchardville Bicentenniel. For a tiny community, the history explored and shared was astounding. I then visited the old Stone St. Cemetery where my COBB and STONE families are buried. I haven't been there in 20 yrs and at that time it was overgrown with few standing stones. I was amazed to see a completely refurbished cemetery with all stones repaired and standing in a well-kept area. Whoever is responsible for this project has contributed hours if not years of work and should be congratulated for their efforts. Great job and thanks. Alice
We are having a Whitney family reunion at the Lakeside Outing Club on Lake Page in a couple of weeks and since I have a large family. My parents cottage is already being used. My question is does anyone know where there is a Hotel/Motel/Apartment with multiple or ajoining rooms that I can rent for the Weekend of the 8/7? I would appreciateany leads. I already tried the Colonila Brick Hotel in Halstead and they are booked. Thanks, Tim
I'm looking for information on my Hatton family. Peter M. Hatton was born in Ireland (we're not sure where). He married Elizabeth Ledwich, born in Stockport, England, and died in North Adams, MA. Their children: Bridget Ann Hatton (b. Oct. 7, 1864 in Susquehanna, PA; d. March 11, 1924, North Adams, MA) m. John Joseph Durnin (b. July 18, 1858, Lewiston, ME; d. March 11, 1924) Mary Elizabeth Hatton Elizabeth G. Hatton (b. 1878; d. Nov. 1952, North Adams, MA) Peter Joseph Hatton (b. 1884; d. Jan. 4, 1953, North Adams, MA) Antoinette Hatton Julia Hatton We're trying to trace the path and dates of Peter M. Hatton, specifically parents, siblings (we know of one brother, Charles Hatton), and townland and county (believed to be Tyrone) in Ireland. We know of Hatton "cousins" who moved on to Tehapchapi, CA, namely Jane Hatton (b. 1840), Sarah Ann Hatton (b. 1845), and Bridget Hatton (b. 1854), only because the great granddaughter of Sarah Ann surfaced with a photo from the 40's including her grandparents and mine. Whether these are siblings or cousins of Peter M., we're not certain. Because at least Bridget Ann was born in Susquehanna, we hope we can find some records there. Some related family members were buried in North Adams, MA, with the name McClehatton carved on their headstones. So, obviously, at least some of the family shortened the name. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Nancy
Hi, I just returned from an extended weekend in Pa. I accidently stumbled onto a reference in The Centennial History of Susquehanna County, Pa. by Rhamanthus Stocker of Stephen Burdick. It is on page 791. States that he married Mary Church and to my delight, listed Kendall Burdick as a son, and then listed Kendall's children and one of them was Happy Burdick who is my GGG Grandmother. Please let me know what you know and I will be glad to directly mail you a retype of the article I brought home with me. This was quite unexpected and exciting since I am just getting started and wasn't even concentrating on this branch. Recently I wrote to the Susquehanna Co. Historical Society requesting a baptism record for Luke Augustus Roosa. Luke was born in Great Bend, PA. The society tells me before they will do a search they must know the denomination of the church to which Luke and his family belonged to. Can someone please give me some suggestions how I might be able to determine this? None of the records I have found so far indicate Luke's denomination. Inge Kellier Edmonton, AB
My great-grandmother was Henrietta Hayden who married Charles L. Benjamin. Her father was James, (s.o. Tracy, s.o. Warner, s.o. Benjamin, s.o. Samuel, s.o. John). I know John moved to upstate NY, Benjamin stayed in New Milford, but Samuel is missing somewhere. It goes back further, but off the top of my head, that's all I remember. My mother bought it back in 1959. I wish I knew where more copies were available, but unfortunately I don't. It was printed by Campbell Printing, New Milford (don't know if it even still is in existence). There is a historical museum in New Milford (don't know the name ). Jan in Florida
Jan, Where did you buy the "History of New Milford" Cindy O.B. FL
Pam, I would love to tell you where to get one, but I honestly wouldn't know. My mother purchased this years ago and it was published in 1959 when they were celebrating the centennial (I think). You might check with the Susquehanna Historical Society. It was printed by Campbell Printing, New Milford. I will be happy to look in my book to see what I can find for you. There is some genealogy in the back of the book. It is more a history although it does give names of elected officials over the years, Dr.'s, lawyers, vets, etc. It also shows where some of the families resided over the years. Lists names of graduating classes from New Milford HS. If you have specific questions, I'll try to see what I can find. Sorry I can't be of more help. Jan in Florida
Pam.. What Hayden line are you researching? I have two lines although have not proven to be related to each other... John Hayden who married Louisa Bennett; and Edwin Hayden married Harriet Bennett..they were sisters and I have photos of them. All born middle 1850's. Janet
Ted... Any other info on Myers? What is Sarah's maiden name? Janet
