    3. I recently purchased a neat book. It is Harford School 1867-1967. There are class pictures of most of the graduating seniors. Some of the older pictures are not all given names. I bought it at the Aqua Inn in Kingsley (Antiques 'n More). They are selling copies. I dont rember what the price was, I didnt get receipt. If anyone would like me to look through the pictures to see if they have a relative in it let me know, then it would probably be worth it to purchase. Remember, girls would be under maiden names. Please email me privately so we dont flood the list, Thankyou, Mary Jean [email protected] Address of Aqua Inn: 2 Mill St. Kingsley, Pa. 18826 ph: (570) 289-4984 - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- Researching: Brown, Tewksbury, Wilmarth, Tiffany, Tingley, Squires, Sterling all from Susquehanna Co., Pa. http://home.stny.Lrun.com/brown/index.htm http://members.xoom.com/mjwanc/~index.htm http://members.xoom.com/Will2me/w~index.htm

    2. MRS BONNIE J SELL
    3. -- [ From: Bonnie Sell * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] -- Dear List, Hello to all you listers who have been rather quiet lately. I have been reading the posts since my return home in early June. I visited Susquehanna County in early May. It was a great experience seeing the area where my early ancestors lived so many years ago. I want to post their names again in hopes someone will find a connection. My earliest ancestor in Susquehanna County was David Morgan who arrived there in 1810 and died there in 1866. His son James C. Morgan married Mary E. Townsend in Brooklyn in 1849. Mary was the daughter of Samuel D . Townsend and Sarah Benjamin. James and Mary's son Sumner G. Morgan married Alice Brooks circa 1873, location not known, but somewhere in PA . Alice was the daughter of Efelyn Spencer and Ashley Brooks. Alice was reportedly born in Factoryville, PA. Efelyn Spencer is believed to be the daughter of Thomas Spencer and ?. She is found in his household in the 1850 census in Springville Township. Her husband Ashley Brooks is possibly the son of Joel Brooks and ?. Joel Brooks is found in the 1850 census of Springville Township also. I have purchased the Centennial History of Susquehanna County and it has provided me with a lot of information. Thanks to those who posted quotes from the book for me. Any cousins out there researching any of these families? Bonnie J. Sell

    1. COBB
    2. I am going throug all the info I have on COBBs trying to find more about CALVIN DUTTON COBB. I have a family group sheet with no source which I copied or received many years ago. My thinking is this may be a son of Calvin Dutton Cobb IF...he was married prior to his 1819 marriage to Phebe Stone at the age of 28. What do you think? Here's what I have: CALVIN D. COBB b1815 in PA wife: Zadah W. Chittenden b1818 in PA Children: Harvey D. b 1838 Loousia E. b1843 Edgar Noble Cobb b. 1844 Pleasant Mount, Wayne Co, PA m. 1869 Susq. Co PA Rachel A. Hewitt d. 1912 Greene Co., Missouri This also contains further info on the Chittenden and Hewitt families. Any clues? Alice

    1. Re: Birchardville
    2. Hi Karen...love your profile!! I posted my line, but will tell you briefly. I am a descendant of Calvin Dutton Cobb (1792-1880) married 1819 to Phebe Stone. Both lived and died in Birchardville and are buried in the Stone St. cem. His known (to me) children: Ebenezer d. 1828 in Birchardville Eben W. 1828-1897 marr Lura E. Lathrop Elmer A. 1821-1900 buried Birchardville m1. Prudence Wandell m2. Narcissa Fish m3. Elizabeth Culver Elmer's dau Phernie married Irvin Truesdell..my great grandparents I have the old Cobb reunion book listing relatives who attended and their addresses. I have a note on Ralph Emerson Cobb of Bradford Co., Pa and his children: Emerson Leslie b 1920 res Bradford Co Ernest DUTTON Cobb b1920 Donald CALVIN Cobb b1921 resided Dryden, Cortland Co., NY Harold Phillip b 1925 I don't have a relationship, but the family names are surely a dead giveaway. I have a record of Ernest CALVIN Cobb probably Ralph's brother also in Bradford Co. Calvin Dutton Cobb has been my brick wall for many years. The family also claimed he walked here from Connecticut. I often wonder if Dutton was his mother's maiden name. He married a Stone and they were also residents of Stone St. and I wonder if he came from Conn with them or with the Birchards. I do have more on the Stone family. I am sure there is more Cobb info in my never-to-be but hopefully -someday-will be organized files!! Now, I've told you my secrets how about telling me about your family of Cobbs? Alice

    3. Hi Mary Jean, Just a quick note to say that you're on my mind and I hope to run into you some day in Montrose or Tunkhannock. I've been pestering the girls at both locations now for about 2 months and have made huge advances in confirming my existing data and getting new data.... what wonderful resources. I hope to get the SCHS more at ease with putting resources on the internet. I've donated server space for the 100 Years Ago this Week and will be responsible for it's timely publication ... have also got Betty and Hillary to agree to put up list of books, indices , family files, etc available. ( It's a start ) ... If you have any comments or suggestions, I'm all ears. best regards, Rick Sterling

Jones / Mary Davies. Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I am trying to gather some information on my ggrandfather Daniel M. JONES B 1858 (?). and his wife Mary DAVIES b. 12 Dec 1852 b. 12 Apr 1938. Story has it that Mary married a William LEWIS ( in either Wales or in PA) immigrated to PA and then moved to Braceville, Grundy County, Illinois. LEWIS died and Mary and their children Edith b. 1874 and Myfanwy returned to Wales. Mary then married Daniel M. JONES and returned to PA. I'm not so sure where in PA they lived. The family eventually wound up in Forest City, but they may have started out in Scranton. I'm just getting started on our family tree so any information will be useful. I'm kind of weak at researching through the internet but I may have some information on Daniel from the 1870 Census. He may be the person listed on the PA 1870 Census Index ID# PA53922946. But then again he may not! Mark --------------AD7F98E4C28C47B513466414--

    1. ORANGE MOTT
    2. Sally, Tried to e-mail you privately but my message was returned to me so here is what I sent you: I have a copy of R. M. Stocker's History of Susquehanna County. Orange Mott is mentioned on several pages of this book but on page 482 I found this. "Orange Mott, a brother of Loani, settled at the lower end of Stone Street, and became one of the oldest men in the county. He died January 23, 1871, aged 98 years, 3 months and six days. For more than 50 years he was one of the leading members of the Baptist Church. His sons were Orange, Rev. Wm. H., Linus, Chester and Amasa, most of whom removed from the township. page 485 "Orange Mott, Jr. (1800-83) a cousin of Mrs. Handrick, resided just above Gordonville, near the Mott homestead. He was a deacon of the Middletown Baptist Church for 30 years, a justice of the peace for a long time, and served for three years as a county commissioner. His first wife was Emeline Ball; his second wife, Ruby (1820-68)m was a daughter of Joseph Cole, of Forest Lake,by whom he had children, - Emma, wife of E. H. Fessenden, of Forest Lake, Ella L., and Villa S. Mott. Jan in Florida

    1. Re: Birchardville
    2. No, the cemetery I am talking about is 2 or 3 miles outside of Birchardville on a narrow dirt road called Stone Street. It is on a hill behind the church. The road beside the church is Cobb Hill Road. If you go to the end of Cobb Hill Rd. and turn right and go to the top of the hill, you'll find the cemetery. Also in that area is an old foundation. The Cobbs and Stones lived there and there was also a tannery. Now, I notice many Birchards living near there. My line: 1. My father..Arleigh Ralph Hickling 1919-1987 wife Beatrice Benedict. They resided in Broome Co., NY 2. Clarence Hickling 1912-1967 wife Leona Truesdell. They resided Vestal, Br Co, NY 3. Irvin Jabish Truesdell 1872-1943 wife Phernie Josephine Cobb of Birchardville,PA 4.Elmer A. Cobb 1821-1900 wife Prudence Wandell. Resided Birchardville, PA 5.Calvin Dutton Cobb 1792-1880 wife Phebe Stone. Birchardville, PA> Children: 1. Ebenezer died 1828 bur Birchardville...Stone St Cem 2. Eben W. 1828-1897 Marr Lura Elizabeth Lathrop (Note: DAR records show an Ebenezer Cobb born 1752 marr to Elizabeth Lathrop) 3. Elmer A. 182l-1900 marr 1 Prudence Wandell. Marr 2 Narcissa Fish, Marr 3 Elizabeth Culver born 1840 IN ADDITION, I have the foloowing relatives in the family reunion book: Ralph Emerson Cobb in Bradford Co. PA his children: Emerson L. Cobb b 1920 Ernest Dutton Cobb b 1920 Donald Calvin Cobb b 1921 Harold Phillip Cobb b 1925 THEN, I also show : Ernest Calvin Cobb m Edna Shumway of Bradford Co in 1914 and then her married Marjorie Barns Cobb the widow of Ralph Cobb. I do have some expanded family. Let me know if I can be of help, OK? I do know that many of the Cobbs moved to Stevensville, Susq Co. PA. Alice
