Each Stone around the base of the monument represents a township from what was then Susquehanna County. On each of these stones soldiers names were chiseled in who died during the civil war. The copper box placed under the corner stone is said to have lists of the soldiers. pg. 264 L Stockers History of Susquehanna County. - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- Researching: Brown, Tewksbury, Wilmarth, Tiffany, Tingley, Squires, Sterling all from Susquehanna Co., Pa. http://home.stny.Lrun.com/brown/index.htm http://members.xoom.com/mjwanc/~index.htm http://members.xoom.com/Will2me/w~index.htm

Chuck.. That is a question everybody would like the answer to. I have one and hoping to get another...greedy, huh? Mine is falling apart. Janet
Both the Susquehanna County and Wayne County Historical Societies have copies - probably many other libraries have it. I believe it's also available through Family History Centers on microfiche. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 05, 1999 9:23 PM Subject: Re: McKeeby line > Hi where does somebody find the commenorative biographical record book of ne > pa?? thanks chuck > >

THANK'S too all on the list who located Lakesid,Thompson, and Thompson for me Bruce
Is this Civil War Monument for the County, or one City or Town. Does it represent all Civil War soldiers who fought in the CivilWar for Susquehanna County. Do the names on the Monument, which are few, represent all the units in the Civil War fot the County. I know of one unit that fought in the Civil War from the county that had 25 men die in the war. I did not see any of there Names as beinging listed on the Monument. The unit was Co."B" 17th Penna Vol Cavalry, commanded by Captain David E. Whitney. The Company had fought in 89 engagements. From Occoquan, VA Dec. 25, 1862 to Appomattox Court House, VA April 9, 1865. And this unit also found itself engaged in heavy fighting on the 1st days battle at Gettysburg July 1, 1863. Thanks Hal
Hi where does somebody find the commenorative biographical record book of ne pa?? thanks chuck
I just uploaded the Kishpaugh names from the book by Flo Kishpaugh, and a Directory page. I'm also listing webpage addresses for those Kishpaugh descendants that I know of. If you know of others and send them to me, I will list them. It might help someone. Marie Thingelstad http://homestead.com/kishpaugh/directory.html
The monument is the responsibility of the County as it is part of the land deeded by Isaac Post in the early 1800's. All of this ten acres which includes the green, where the monument is located ,is on the National Historic Registry. It is all the responsibility of the County. The mortar etc. on the Monument base along with the stone tablets are deteriorating. I am not sure of the shape the statue itself is in, as it is so high in the air. As for Newspapers with highest circulation it would be a toss up between the Montrose Independent and the Susquehanna Transcript. It sure wouldn't hurt to cover both and get the wide spread news to all County residents. The head curator at the historical society has entered the monument as a much needed repair monument to the "Save our Outdoor Sculptor's" Group. *note from source: I can still apply for having the monument assessed however as I said before the Commissioner's are reluctant to pay half of the expenses to do so. We are trying to stir up interest with Historic groups in the area to urge the Commissioner's also." **The above statement was sent to me in order to obtain help for getting people aware of the condition and remedy for the Monument. George: I am a GG Granddaughter of Mary Josephine McKeeby (b. abt 1850? d. ?) who was married to Robinson Lewis Bolles, as his second wife. I've been trying to determine her parents for some time. Here are some notes that I've taken along with a report off of a World Family Tree CD. I believe there are spelling variations in different sources I've come across i.e. McKeeby/McKeebe. I've found an Isaac, Matthew, Solomon and Theodore listed both ways. If you've seen my GG Grandmother in your research, please let me know! 1840 Census, Forest Lake, there is a Dennis McKeeby with a daughter age 5-9. 1840 Census, Bridgewater, Richard McKeebe with daughter 0-4 years old. 1840 Census, Bridgewater, Gilbert McKeebe with daughter 10-14 years old. (not likely my Mary Josephine.) >From History books: Henry Patrick lived adjoining Abram Lake, where Matthew McKeebe now lives. (Per IGI, Matthew had a son named Alfred b. 1836.) Gilbert McKeebe bought the Patrick place about 50 years ago. Of his children, Matthew retains the homestead, and Isaac, Solomon, William and Theodore were the other sons. Note: (book first published in 1887 so, Gilbert would have bought the land around 1837 or so.) Parke Family Record:1629.
