That is a very good sugestion about looking at surrounding states for Civil War service. I found also in my case that a man I was researching acually had enlisted in the 86th NY Vols, but was from PA. This is definatly worth looking into if you have that hard to find Civil War Soldier.
Those interested in men from Susquehanna County serving in the Civil War should also consider New York State regiments. I recently found an individual who enlisted in Company F, 155th NY Reg in Sept 1862. I believe a number of Susquehanna County men enlisted in NY untits. Information regarding NY regiments can be found at http://www.snymor.edu/pages/library/local_history/sites/unitinfo/

Hi Susan, All I have for Halstead is S.C. Halstead, Pvt enlisted Mar. 16, 1864, and mustered out with Co. B. 2d Regiment Provost Cavalry Aug. 7,1865. And thank you very much for the papers you sent me they were great. Ted
Hi Ted Again, I have tons of books on military history, and some on Pa military history. Some years ago I co-authored a book call "The First Century. It was the history of the 28th Infantry Division. During that time I was sent a great deal of books and papers on the Division. I have just found a book that I had not seen in years. It the "History of the 13th Regiment National Gaurd of Pennsylvania". and the 109th Infantry; 108th M.G. Battalion; U.S.A.E.F. and 109th Pennsylvania National Guard 1877-1923. Many of the men listed were Civil war vets and I have the intire list of men from the the surrounding areas who served in the two above units in WW1 I will give an example of the information in this book 109th Infantry, Officers killed in Action in France, 1918 2d Lt. Francis R. Austin Hq 2d Lt Robert S. Brown M.G. Company What a wonderful find people have been asking about people in WW1 and I am sitting on a gold mine of information. Ted
Hi Folks, I can"t tell you all how over loaded I am doing look ups for people wanting to know about Civil War soldiers or the units they were in. It take time for me to extract information or to look for a soldier. Here are some sites that can be used and a lot of you will find them very informative and helpful. Thanks Ted http://www.cwc.isu.edu/cwc/links/cwsuninfo.htm The request I have had for the 50th can be found at http://www.angelfire.com/pa/50thPVI/page2.html http://www.angelfire.com/pa/50thPVI/index.html Thank you for all your responses and I hope this will help alot of you. if not I am still here to help.

Bonney, This is the information I have on Pvt Sabin Barrett. Enlisted Sept. 21, 1862, Transferred to Vet. Res. Corps. Sept 30, 1863. Discharged by General order, July 26, 1865. Pvt Luther L. Barrett, Enlisted Sept 21, 1862, he mustered out with his company on June 16, 1865. Bonney Sabin was more then likely wounded or sickly, and was more then likely confined to a hospital before his release in July of 1865. Go to your local library they have forms in which you can send to get there pension records just be sure when you send for his records that you put "All Records" As far as Luther goes you can do the same, but he must have gone through the war without any problems. But you can send for all his records to. When you get the form if you have problems just give me a yell, I will help you. Ted
Would you have any more info on Pvt. Sabin Barrett and Pvt. Luther I. Barrett? I thank you for your knowledge about the Civil War. Have been looking for a long time for some info about my ancestors in the Civil War. Bonney Barrett Tamkins
Would you have any more info on Bugler Benj. W. Barrett? thanks, Bonney Barrett Tamkins
