Hi! We just discovered a place to obtain actual (rare) source photocopies, at very reasonable cost, and are just passing the info along to those of you as unaware as we. It is particularly useful right now since Ancestry is offering the free two-week trial to RootsWeb users (at http://ancestry.com/subscribe/subscribetrialx.asp?sourcecode=G11BA ). Most of the cited sources shown in Ancestry's database of the American Genealogical-Biographical Index (AGBI) are housed at The Godfrey Memorial Library in Middletown, CT, and the library offers a photocopy service for these sources. Information and email are in the explanation of this specific database on its individual search page. Pardon me for jumping in here, Janet and Mary Jean. There is a Catholic cemetery associated with St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Little Meadows. Some distance away from the church, the cemetery, I believe, is on state road 858 going southeast out of Little Meadows towards Friendsville. I can't give directions since I haven't been to Little Meadows in a lot of years. The pastor of St. Thomas is named Fr. William Langan, and a busy man he must be since he's also the pastor of St. Francis Xavior in Friendsville and St. Patrick's in Middletown. I've recently discovered that there is an Irish Festival at St. Patrick's planned for September 10, and may have a chance to drive up there (from Harrisburg, PA) for that. I didn't mean to imply I thought they were the same war. Both Brandons and Skinners in US by 1700. Thanks for checking.
Sue, I'm interested in this endeavor. My great great grandfather, Charles A. Thornton was born in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania in 1827 and my great great grandmother, Catherine Harris, was born in Susquehanna in 1831. This is my earliest record of these individuals and I'm very anxious to obtain more information about them and their families. Hello List, To the gentleman on this list whose ancestor is Isaac Howard amd has a Mary Agnes Gage in has ancestry... I am trying to find the Howard family, no doubt from PA, who had a daughter Phoebe/Phebe born in very early 1800's who married my GGgrandfather, Elkanah Gaige born about 1801 (probably in northeastern PA). Their children were born in Brackney, PA. On the LDS site, I found a Thomas Howard & Phoebe Sayers who had 12 children -- one of whom was daughter Phoebe born about 1800. I'm hoping, upon hope, that I may have found the correct Phoebe Howard. Does any of the above ring a bell? Any assistance you could provide would be deeply appreciated. JoAnne Gage Teske - WI
