I can't help you Jeff but I do have an open question for everyone on the list: I have ancestors who lived in the same area and they also moved to Elkhart. I know the farming in the Synder Co area is not the best. What strikes me is the "exodus" (?) to IN. Can anyone shed more light on this passage, or have I simply answered my own question, ie, farming was better in and around Elkhart. I am new to the Snyder County, PA mailing list. I am researching the following families in Snyder County, PA. Gideon and Elizabeth (DABLER) LONG and Moses and Minerva(DENNIS) BUSSLER. They were both from the Shamokin Dam Area around 1850/60's then moved to Elkhart County, IN area. This is were I am starting ! I hope to hear from a new cousin! Lisa Long
