    2. Richard O. Sommer
    3. My name is Richard Sommer. I have lived in Stillwater, Minnesota for the last 11 years. Prior to that, with the exception of 14 months in Southeast Asia in 1969 and 1970, I lived in Ohio. I resided in the Columbus area (Grove City) for 24 years and spent 12 years in various parts of Northern Ohio, Akron, Toledo, Rocky River and Cuyahoga Falls. My gggrandfather Peleg M. RUMFIELD was born in PA in 1818. I don't know what county but a newspaper article many years after his death referred to him as Pennsylvania Dutch. I have found several Rumfield/Rumfeld/Rumfelt families in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. There is, in the records of Botschaft Lutheran and Reformed Church, Chapman Twp., Snyder Co. baptism records for two Rumfelds: Louisa 1823 and Edward 1825. These were the children of Andreas Rumfeld b. May 8, 1786, Lehigh PA, and his wife Anna ?. I have not yet connected Peleg to any of the Rumfelds that I have found, the name is uncommon enough that I believe they are all members of the same family. The first of whom came over in 1734 on the ship St.. Andrew from Germany through Rotterdam. Peleg married Rachel Pettit in Morgan County Ohio in 1839. They lived in various southern Ohio counties before settling in Meigs Co. Peleg returned home ill from the war in 1862. He died upon reaching his front yard, never making it inside his house. I am looking for any information on the Rumfeld/Rumfelt/Rumfield family but I am especially anxious to connect Peleg with his parents. Dick Sommer P.O. Box 31 Stillwater, MN 55082 [email protected]
