    1. [PASNYDER-L] Where is Kreiderstown?
    2. Nelson Sulouff
    3. About 1885 Elizabeth Noetling, widow of Dr. William Noetling of New Berlin, purchased property which she described in a letter to her son as "in Kreiderstown along the Selinsgrove-Kratzerville Road in Penn Twp., Snyder Co., about a mile from Selinsgrove PA." Evidently Kreiderstown no longer exists or it has been incorporated into another town in the area. Does anyone on the ListServ recall ever seing any mention of Kreiderstown in Snyder Co.? Could anyone do a quick lookup that would verify the exsistence of Kreiderstown around 1880-1890? I would appreciate any help on this question. Nelson R. Sulouff

    3. Hello Nelson, According to _The Story of Snyder County_ by George Dunkleberger there is a short paragraph. "PENN AVON is a small village located about a mile northwest of Selinsgrove on route, Number 204. It's original name was Kreidertown after a family that formerly resided there. Then it became known as Longstown for the Long family. In course of the years, it became commonly known as Dogtown because so many dogs barked when wagons and other vehicles passed through the village. About 1923 Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Drumm conducted a general store at the place, and upon their suggeston, the village received the more suitable name of Penn Avon.
