Hi, Can one of you history buffs tell me what was going on in or around Union (now Snyder) County about 17 May 1820? I have found the mention of my extremely elusive ancestor, Peter WAREHEIM (alt. sp. WAREHIME/WAREHAM/WERHEIM et al). "Captain Peter WAREHAM applied to Gov. William Findlay requesting an immediate supply of rifles for his Volunteer Company of riflemen at Selinsgrove." I am curious as to the need for rifles at this particular time. Any information will be appreciated. Information on this ancestor is so scarce that I need to delve into any little bit I can find. I know Peter also served during the War of 1812 in Captain George Hendel's Company, Volunteer Riflemen, Fifth Detachment, Pennsylvania Militia, Commanded by Col. James Fenton. Peter Wareham married Mary HOLSTEIN, daughter of George HOLSTEIN and Maria Barbara WEISER. Thanks for your help.
