Co in 1850 Census. There are common names of offspring such as Edwin Gross, Minnie Gross, Daniel Gross, etc, that make me think there is a connection between these two lines, but I can't prove it without more info. Can anyone connect with these family groups/this info? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1830 Census Washington Twp, Lycoming Co -- no Daniel GROSS found. 1840 Census Wash Twp Lyc Co - Index lists "a" Daniel GROSS. (probably mine) 1850 Census Wash Twp Lyc. Co page-398 lists this family group --my direct line Daniel Gross, 40, PA. (thus, born approx 1810, +/-) Polly Gross, 30, PA. LaFayette Gross, 14, PA. (civil war vet, see below for his family group) Mary Gross, 12, PA. Presilla Gross, 10, PA. (later married Isaac BIXLER; lived Watsontown Northumb. Co) Sarah Gross, 8, PA. James Gross, 6, PA. Edwin Gross, 4, PA. (civil war drummer; nothing further known) Emma Gross, 2, PA. 1860 Census, Washington Twp., Lycoming Co., page-751. John Farley, 77, PA. Mary Farley, 68, PA. John Farley, 24, PA. Harriet Kennedy, 13, PA Syman Smith, 13, PA same dwelling diff. family number: LaFayette Gross, 24, PA <---------- Son of Daniel Gross, above Mary A. Gross, 23, PA. (could be 1st wife, or sister Mary as cited in 1850 census, above) By 1860, sister Priscilla Gross was out of the household, married to Isaac Bixler. No idea where the other siblings & parents (if they survived) might have gone. Possibly Daniel GROSS died and the widow/younger children moved elsewhere with relatives? Index of Lycoming Co. Deaths shows 2 Daniel GROSS's: --26 Jan 1858 in Collomsville, Daniel GROSS, aged 51 years --31 July 1859, in Clinton Twp, Daniel GROSS, formerly of Bloomsburg (Columbia Co), aged 68 Years. The first death "might" be mine, altho birth est 1807 is earlier than mine per 1850 census. Approx 1861, Lafayette enllisted from Lyc. Co, probably 5th Cav, PA Volunteers. Not sure when Edwin enlisted or from what county. My uncle has his civil war drum, but there is no regiment number on it. Feb 1864, Lafayette married Roxa (or Roxcenia?) Atilda DAVIS or DAVID, in McDonough Co, Illinois. Not poitive this is mine, there were about (5) "Lafayette GROSS's" who were civil war vets! (My Lafayette is not the same as the Lafayette Gross who died in Crawford Co PA in 1916. However, I am corresponding with someone who is researching that one, so if anyone has info on EITHER Lafayette, please let me know! Hope to hear from someone who can give me a clue on this Daniel GROSS's parents, sibs, maiden name of wife "Polly", etc. Thanks in advance for any help! Luann
