Hope no one minds - I have just returned form a wonderful visit to Snyder County, and had a number of folks ask re the name Ner - we are Jewish, and I am fairly fluent in Hebrew. Ner is Hebrew, used in the Bible (in early days a working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek was a part of regular higher education), meaning candle, or a light.
