Johann Jacob Hausworth/Housworth is in the 1810 Census of Mahantango Twp in Northumberland County, page 293 with wife, 3 sons under 10, 3 daughters under 10 and 2 daughters from 10-15. In 1813, Union County was formed and this part of Northumberland became Mahantango Twp of Union County. Then Snyder county was formed in 1855, and this part of NOrthumberland - Union became Perry Twp in Snyder County. One of Johan Jacob's sons, John (born 1800) is one page 153B of Chapman Twp in Union County with wife Catharine and a passle of children. Catharine died on April 14, 1866 and is buried in the Trinity United Brethren Cemetery at McKees Half Falls, Chapman Twp, Snyder County (which used to be in Union County which used to be in Northumberland County!! Her husband John, moved to Berrien County, Michigan in 1867. Hope this helps

    1. [PASNYDER-L] George W. Cramer
    2. Rich Kerstetter
    3. I am seeking information on George W. Cramer, who lived in what is now Monroe Township, Snyder County, Pa., in the 1820s or so. One source says he may have come from Berks or Bucks County, Pa. (a guess based on census records, I assume). Floyd's "Genealogical and Biographical Annals" indicates George W. Cramer "came to his death by foul play, being found dead in a strip of woods with a wound in his head." His children were Reuben (born in 1816), Sallie (married to John Gingrich) and Nathan (born in 1818). Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wdB.2ACI/636.3 Message Board Post: I think that your Franklin Snyder may be related to my Albanus Snyder who was born in 1837. Albanus' mother was Louisa Kirk from Upper Dublin who married Thomas Shallcross Snyder who was either from Byberry or Upper Dublin. The Kirks were Quakers and prone to name children after other members of the family. Franklin Kirk would have been Albanus' cousin. Franklin Kirk's mother was Caroline Kirk (who had Franklin out of wedlock). Albanus' middle name was Hallowell - and I notice on the census that the Hallowells were listed right above your Snyder family. In addition, another one of Louisa Kirk's sisters married a Hallowell. There is good information about this family in the Kirk Family Geneaology, which was writter by Miranda Roberts around 1900. All these Quaker families (particularly in Upper Dublin, PA), intermarried because it was frowned upon to marry outside the faith.

    3. Hope no one minds - I have just returned form a wonderful visit to Snyder County, and had a number of folks ask re the name Ner - we are Jewish, and I am fairly fluent in Hebrew. Ner is Hebrew, used in the Bible (in early days a working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek was a part of regular higher education), meaning candle, or a light. 3. Maybe this is the answer to the Middleswarth School question. At this WebSite: http://politicalgraveyard.com/bio/micheau-middleswarth.html there is this paragraph: "Middleswarth, Ner (1783-1865) Born in New Jersey, December 12, 1783. Served in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1815-41; member of Pennsylvania state senate; U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania 10th District, 1853-55; county judge, 1858. Died in Beavertown, Snyder County, Pa., June 2, 1865. Interment at Union Cemetery, Beavertown, Pa. See also: congressional biography." However, the statement that he was born in New Jersey appears to be in error. Go to this WebSite: http://bioguide.congress.gov/scripts/biodisplay.pl?index=M000695 and see this paragraph: "MIDDLESWARTH, Ner, 1783-1865 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- MIDDLESWARTH, Ner, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Glasgow, Scotland, December 12, 1783; immigrated to the United States in 1792 with his parents, who settled in New Jersey; moved to Beavertown, Pa., the same year; had a very limited education; served as a captain in the War of 1812; member of the State house of representatives 1815-1841 and served as speaker two terms; served in the State senate 1853-1855; elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress (March 4, 1853-March 3, 1855); was not a candidate for renomination in 1854; engaged in agricultural pursuits; president of the Beaver Furnace Co. in Snyder County; associate judge of Snyder County in 1858; died in Beavertown, Snyder County, Pa., June 2, 1865; interment in Union Cemetery."
