    3. A copy is being auctioned at Ebay - I don't have any further information. Click on the link to be taken to Ebay. *BOOK: "The Snyder County Pioneers," by Dr. Charles A. Fisher. Softbound volume totaling 109 pages. Book is in excellent condition. Reprinted 2001. Per the publisher; "This is a collection of biographical notices of nearly 1,000 persons whose names appeared on tax or military rolls prior to 1800 in what is now Snyder County, Pennsylvania, which then consisted of parts of Cumberland, Northumberland, and Berks counties. The notices generally give the dates and places of the subject's birth and death; the names of his wife and children; references to immigration and migration, residence, occupation, real estate, and military service; and notations pertaining to the marriages and baptisms of other family members. The data, which are believed to represent a complete record of all people living in Snyder County prior to 1800, are based on Dr. Fisher's examinations of county court records, church records, tombstone inscriptions, state and federal archives, private papers, family histories, and printed books and pamphlets." http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1771492977

    2. Logan Garth Swanger
    3. It has taken me a long time, but I think I finally figured out a new format for the Snyder County PAGenWeb site pages. I've experimented and asked a number of other researchers' opinions and settled on a new look for the site. If you check out http://www.rootsweb.com/~pasnyder/index.htm you'll see it. Please note that the home page is the only one working right now. New pages will be placed on the site as I finish them. The only links that work are the ones on the home page that point offsite or link to emails. So please bear with me. In the meantime, check out the home page and give me your feedback. 1. [PASNYDER-L] SELLERS at Mahantango?
    2. Steve Iman
    3. I'd sure appreciate helping find the location of land an ancestor apparently owned in 1771. Christian Eyman, while residing in Bethel Township of Lancaster County, sold land to a John Crane, described as being on Mohontongo waters of Penn Township in Cumberland County of the day. According to an internet contact, the Cranes lived in Greenwood Township of Cumberland, and I'm not sure if Penn and Greeenwood were or are situated near one another. I've found a subsequent deed of sale for the property (to an Abraham Torree of Stazborg (sic) Township (Lancaster) adding no additional details aside from a location "half a mile from the survey of HENRY or JOHN SELLERS", also described as being in Penn Township of Cumberland. Coincidentally I ran across a history of that Perry/Snyder area in which it was said that in 1779, a HENRY SELLER had 900 acres. I imagine that if I can find his land, I might be closer to what I'm looking for. What fascinates me is that in the deed it says "situate within 3 mills (sic) of land acquired by his father of the proprietor" (and a new spelling of the name Eaiman). I've tried many versions of the name and never found any land listings to support the possibility that Christian's father(thought by some to be Jacob Eiman of Upper Paxtang) had land. Any suggestions for location or how or where I might go about research on this would be much appreciated. I'm a beginner in this area, and would also appreciate any good references on early history for the area. Care and appreciation -- Steve -- sciman@csupomona.edu --

    2. Charles E. Fies, Retired
    3. Divina Johnston et al: I suppose you know there are zillions of Snyders around, a few of whom settled in Pennsylvania, Berks County especially. And of course Berks was split off Lancaster then further divided into several others, including Northumberland, Snyder etc. All this means is that if you want to go back into the 1700s, you will need to look at Berks, Lancaster, and Chester Counties. Northumberland itself was split into other counties after being split off of Berks (if my memory serves me well!). Feel free to look at my SNYDER home page at: SNYDER-JONES <http://home.att.net/~chasfies/ermafies.html>. I haven't gone back past Abraham, and know nothing about his ancestors. Maybe one of thes days I'll dig a bit deeper. At any rate, good luck to you in your search. C E Fies > > Hello list! I am new to this list and I am researching the Snyder family for a relative.
