Hi, I am seeking information on the families of Captain Crawford Fullarton GLOVER and his brother Robert Alexander GLOVER who went from Ayrshire in Scotland to Pottsville and Shenandoah about 1858. Captain GLOVER married an Elizabeth LENHART in 1861, they had two children, Stuart M F GLOVER and Emly GLOVER. Captain GLOVER was a tobacco merchant and cigar maker in Pottsville, he died in 1893. Stuart married and had three daughters, Margaret who married John FURMAN, Miriam who married Lorenz MILLS and Irma who at the time of Stuart's death in 1930 was unmarried Stuart's sister Emly appears to have never married she was a school teacher and at the time of Stuart's death was a teacher in charge of the girls grammar school at the Garfield Building. The Captain's brother Robert is recorded in the 1880 census as living in Shenandoah, with his wife Cathrine and 10 children ranging from 4 months to 25 years. Both Robert and the eldest child are recorded as a "Travelling Agent" A brother of the Captain and Robert was my GG grandfather, he came to Australia in the gold rush and then went to the gold fields in New Zealand. They had one further brother, David, who so far as I can find in Australian and New Zealand BDM's did not marry or die here. It may be possible that he also went to Pennsylvania with or to join his brothers; it was a lot closer than Australia. Does anyone know anything of these families please? Cheers Peter Melbourne Australia
