The financial loss is enormous. In addition to the value of the breaker, which was worth at least $100,000,the company employed 1,050 hands and had a monthly payroll averaging from $40,000 to $45,000. It will be impossible to replace the structure before fall and Saint Clair will therefore sustain a direct loss of a least a half million dollars.
