In "Swiss and German Pioneed Settlers of South Eastern Pennsylvania and of Their Remote ANcestors, from the Middle of the Dark Ages to the Time of the Revolutionary War" by H. Frank Esheleman, B.E.,M.E., LL., B. on page 65, it tells the story of a Hans Hasel or Haslibach from Haslibach, who was a teacher of a congregation in the Sumiswald of Switzerland who was killed on Oct 20, 1571. The writer wondered if this was an ancestor of the Hassels and Hasels of PA. In "A Collection of Upwards of Thirty Thousand Names of German, Swiss, Dutch, French and ither Immigrants in Pennsylvania from 1727 to 1776" by Prof I. Daniel Rupp, on page 86, there is an Elias HASELE, arr on 17 Aug 1733, on the ship "Samuel" of London, Master Hugh Percy, from Rotterdam, last from Deal.
