There are two Lutheran churches Zion and St. John's. They are only a couple of short blocks from each other. Zion is the largest church in town. I live in Tamaqua and have since 1986. I lived in Quakake for two years before that. Quakake is 7 miles down the road. My husband was born and raised here. He was gone from the area for abt 30 years before we retired here. This is a town of abt seven thousand people. I am from Los Angeles. There are two Methodist churches here both are slowly dying. At one time they were in good shape. I used to attend the largest of the Methodist churchs. What kind of records they have or what shape they are in is unknown to me. I doubt that anyone one is there on a dailey basis but you could get lucky and catch someone there cleaning or other chores. 1st United Methodist church on Broad is not listed in the phone book and it used to be the largest of the two. There is also a Primative Methodist church on Hunter Street. It is not a very big church anymore People wise. Primative is a different domination than the United Methodist.
