The archives of the Record American newspapers from c 1918 through 1968 are currently in the possession of the Mahanoy City Public Library and are UNAVAILABLE for research until they are microfilmed. The Library has undertaken the project to get the archives digitalized and the first batch of volumes are being worked on....the earliest and the ones in the worse condition. I have two ancestors who died there; one got hit by a runaway metal 'tire' coming down a hill. The other was hit by a truck. Both early 1920s probably. I could get approximate dates if someone could do a lookup for me. Ditto on any expenses incurred.
