The historical society is located in Pottsville, which is also the county seat. The people at both locations are very helpful and friendly. Know what you're looking for before you go. The historical society has various hours so check before you try to go there. They also charge $5/day for research if I remember. There's a parking garage a couple of blocks away. Parking at the courthouse is almost non-existent and you will likely have to park on the street a few blocks away and walk it. I am researching the Haas family and had a Valentine Haas there in the 1880 census. Any help or suggestions on Catholic churches and cemeteries in that area would also be appreciated.
