From enumerators to transcribers and our ancestors themselves, we need patience and clear thinking to find many of these hidden records. Besides using creative alternate spellings, and so on, I've written the surname I'm searching in several different ways and then squint to see how else a name might appear. One of my surnames I've searched is Sieck from Germany. I never found it the same way twice from one 10 year period to the next. In one instance it was transcribed as Suck: If you write Sieck out without dotting the "i" or looping the "e", it does appear a Suck. Another time it was enumerated as "Ceck"...well, at least I was able to find everyone from 1850-1930, as well as passenger, immigration, & naturalization records for that family. And I'm familiar with going through whole towns page by page. I was just hoping that someone knew which Mahanoy Township District had Coles Village. Thank you for writing and best wishes to you. Perhaps this little conversation can help others too. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
